ABUD - Advanced Building & Urban Design
Architecture and Planning
Consultancy firm powered by architects, engineers and researchers specialised in sustainable building and urban design.
Rólunk
Advanced Building & Urban Design (ABUD) is consultancy firm powered by engineers, architects and researchers specialised in sustainable building and urban design. We have promoted sustainable design for more than 12 years as individuals before ABUD was established in 2012. We offer services from the conceptual planning phase to the full realisation of a project ranging from detached houses to urban concepts. In addition to designing new buildings in an environmentally-friendly way, we see a great challenge in the green refurbishment of the existing building stock. Apart from realising building- and even urban-scale projects, our team focuses on the optimisation of building skins, the barrier between the exterior and the interior environments. We use special analytic tools to evaluate energy and environmental performance of buildings and neighbourhoods not only to validate our own design projects but to offer it as service for our clients. We believe that our work not only meets the interests and aesthetic expectations of our clients but also serves the sustainable development of our environment. This belief and commitment drives us in European and global research projects where new directions and possibilities can be found. As a think tank, ABUD actively participates in the work of scientific and professional organisations that support the worldwide promotion of sustainable construction. We work and train ourselves continuously to contribute to a more sustainable world by means of innovations.

🟨 How does the ENSNARE project use #Operational #DigitalTwin technology to optimise #buildingperformance and support #netzero energy goals in Europe? 🏢 To explore this transformative approach, read the full article below by our fellow consortium partner, IES Ltd.: https://lnkd.in/encjRW_k 💻 Within the ENSNARE project, we are primarily focusing on the #methodology and #validation of the #digitisation processes and #simulations for three different climatic environments. 🏨
Did you know that digital twins can reduce operational building emissions by up to 30% after a retrofit? 🌱 Amisha P., from IES Ltd. (a key partner in the ENSNARE project), explains how this innovative operational digital twin technology is transforming building energy management. The article highlights how, through dynamic building simulation and the use of real-time data, digital twins enable continuous optimization of energy performance. This not only reduces carbon emissions but also helps building managers make more informed decisions, enhancing efficiency and lowering operational costs. In the context of the ENSNARE project, this technology is being implemented across several European pilot sites, aiming to bring buildings closer to net-zero energy consumption. Interested in learning more about how digital twins can transform buildings post-renovation? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/encjRW_k The future of sustainable building is here, and digital twins are key to achieving our sustainability and energy efficiency goals. 💡🌍 #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #DigitalTwins #ENSNARE #Innovation #SustainableRenovation #Energy #DigitalTransformation

🟨 On the 3rd of December, we had the privilege of contributing to the Central European Energy Conference 2024, organised by the Slovak Foreign Policy Association in Bratislava. ABUD's Senior Consultant, Viktor Bukovszki, joined the conversation on sustainable energy solutions as a panelist in “#WindEnergy: Environmental and Community Solutions for Wind Energy Success.” 🌪️ 🌬️ The panel discussion explored strategies to overcome #environmental, land and community-related barriers in wind energy development, highlighting not only concerns but also the benefits for local communities. ✅ It was chaired by Oldrich Sklenar, a Research Fellow at AMO, and brought together leading experts Jan Lacko, Member of the Executive Committee, Slovak Association of Sustainable Energy (SAPI); Thomas Podlesak, Director, WEB Windenergie AG; and Viktor Bukovszki, Senior Consultant, ABUD. 🍃 Viktor highlighted the critical need to go beyond technological advancements: "#CommunityEnergy approach is the best bet to accelerate the proliferation of wind power, but we must learn to support the #socialinnovation, not just the technology. The path forward is participation, not solely market solutions; #communityconsent, not compensation; integration of #ruraldevelopment, #energytransition, and #natureconservation, not siloed policies." 🔌 🌍💡 The takeaway? The future of the #energytransition relies on building trust, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that #localcommunities share in the benefits of sustainable development. ✨ We're grateful for the invitation and proud to have contributed to these transformative conversations for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable energy future. 📑 Read our summary here: https://lnkd.in/dgUA8U8M #EnergyTransition #WindEnergy #Sustainability #ABUD #CEEC2024 #CommunityEnergy

🟨 Well done, Team ABUD! 👏 Our team participated in a #Climathon organised by GiLE Foundation under an EIT Climate-KIC CEE initiative, for addressing #urbanDesign and #mobility challenges in Zugló, Hungary. The event was part of a global movement of self-organised events in cities aimed at laying the groundwork for transformational change to: 🌱 Raise awareness about local climate challenges and share climate-relevant learnings; ⛰️ Build and strengthen local #ecosystems; 🌳 Inspire projects and #climateaction that address systemic problems leading to climate change locally. 🎉 Congrats, Sofia Rostilova, Derique Mikhail Casio, Oussama Elkarymy ✨
Being an expat in Hungary, shaping local policy and voicing change seems challenging. I can't imagine myself taking-part of any public participation. How can I share my thoughts with the municipality when language is a gap on its own? This event made me realize that it could be possible. Innovative thinkers came together during a Climathon organized by Gile Foundation to find solutions for a design/urban mobility challenge in Zuglo. Eager to solve problems, both local and international young professionals dedicated their entire weekend to create a proposal in front of a mix of Zuglo stakeholders. Even though it’s a competition, the potential to influence policy with these proposals energized me. I had an amazing experience to learn and develop proposals for this project outside of work. My team’s ideas were amazing. Our mentor (Gáspár Békés) gave a lot of great advice, and made us think even bigger. The participants showcased their unique ideas, and it was joy to learn them. It was a reward to be there. There’s a lot of room for improvement and significant potential for growth. At the end of the whole Climathon, I left, feeling fulfilled. Congratulations to us, TEAM ABUD (Sofia Rostilova and Oussama Elkarymy) for creating and designing “Pedal and Pause” Plan and Design. Working with you both is a pleasure, and I am glad to work as a team. Thank you as well to everyone in ABUD - Advanced Building & Urban Design, who has given their support to this initiative! Also, I’m thankful for GiLE Foundation and its partners for organizing Climathon Budapest. We hope to join in the next one. 🎆
