A throwback to October 7-8, when Generation Girl (Yayasan Generasi Maju Berkarya) had the incredible opportunity to set up an educational booth at the 2024 PUSAKA Exhibition organized by Kemendikbud Puspeka! It was an honor to represent our organization alongside my fantastic team: Head of Operations Syifa Malona, Junior Chief of Staff Syaravina Meilita, and Head of Education Astrid Coenrad. We connected with education enthusiasts from the Ministry, local education departments, and students alike. Not only did we get to share our achievements, but we also made learning interactive with fun games like drag-and-drop challenges and typing races. Today, #Unit4 had the privilege of hosting an event organised in collaboration with our new partner Generation Girl, an Indonesian non-profit that equips young women through STEM-based programs to become future leaders.   Alongside Generation Girl CEO, Nadine Siregar and Junior Chief of Staff, Syaravina M, we explored the unique challenges women face in leadership and shared our insights and experiences in terms of how we can help shape future female leaders particularly in the world of technology.     I am really delighted that through the efforts of our Women at Unit4 group in Indonesia we were able to bring together such a talented and inspirational group of women. Seeing so many ambitious and generous women sharing and supporting each other was really amazing. We recently had the privilege of hosting an offline event in collaboration with our partner Yayasan Generasi Maju Berkarya (Generation Girl) to discuss women in leadership. This inspiring talk featured Tania Garrett (Chief People Officer of Unit4) and Anbita Nadine Siregar (CEO of Generation Girl), who shared their experiences and strategies on how we can break barriers. 💡Two key points that really caught my attention: -Leadership is not a role; it's a quality. -Never try to be a man to fit in or be accepted; instead, be proud of being a woman and use our strengths to lead. A big thank you to everyone who joined us: our dedicated Women at Unit4 Indonesia team (Nadzifa Nur Fadila, Dhina Ekawati, Saarah F., Debora Simarmata, Cindy Christine Novera Malau), our partner who made this event possible, Unit4 Indonesia employees, and our external audience👏🏻💚 This collaboration is just one step forward in our commitment to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. ✨ Empowering Women in Leadership: Insights from the Generation Girl x Unit4 Event ✨ Did you know that women in leadership still face an uphill battle, not just against traditional workplace challenges but against deeply ingrained gender biases? At the Generation Girl (Yayasan Generasi Maju Berkarya) x Unit4 Women in Leadership: The Unseen Barriers event, I witnessed firsthand how powerful it can be when women come together to confront these biases and reimagine leadership. With thought-provoking insights from Kak Nadine (Founder & CEO, Generation Girl) and Tania Garret (Chief People Officer, Unit4), we tackled tough questions: Why are traits like assertiveness and ambition often linked to men? How can women embrace leadership roles authentically despite conflicting expectations? and many more. Gender bias remains a significant barrier, shaped by deep-rooted stereotypes and societal expectations. Traits like assertiveness, ambition, and decisiveness are stereotypically attributed to men, while women are expected to embody qualities like empathy, gentleness, and nurturing. This cultural framework creates a “double-bind” dilemma: women who show assertiveness may be seen as overly aggressive, while those displaying compassion might be considered "too soft." Such biases can pressure women into limited roles, impacting their career growth and influence. The event also underscored the importance of mentorship and community—not just as support systems but as powerful spaces where women can support each other to thrive. When women mentor each other, they foster a community that values authenticity and diverse leadership styles. For companies aiming to address gender bias, fostering inclusive practices, supporting leadership development, and addressing microaggressions are crucial steps toward a fair and empowering workplace. During the group session, I applied these insights to real-world case studies and presented solutions to a panel of judges. This experience reminded me of the importance of building a future where women can lead without compromising their authenticity.
