Ability Focus partner with the National Screening Service, HSE for Disability Awareness Training in 2024/2025. The Ability Focus Teams are really proud of all the training and awareness initiatives Ability Focus has worked on in 2024, but there are a few in particular which really stand out. Ability Focus started working with the National Screening Service, HSE in early 2024 to format a #DisabilityAwareness training programme for NSS staff who work through each of the 4 national screening services. These include Cervical Check, BowelScreen, Breast Check and Diabetic Retina Screen. The aim of this programme is to generate greater confidence for all NSS staff nationally, not just those staff who engage service users in the course of their screening duties. Our small team are so proud to have a part to play in encouraging a more accessible screening service. If screening services such as Breast Check, Cervical Check, Diabetic Retina Screen and Bowel Screen can be more accessible to #disabled people, then maybe we can make a small difference in helping with early detection for people with additional support needs. We are very much looking forward to continuing with programme delivery in early 2025. Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. We’ve been working closely with disability inclusion experts at Ability Focus to develop and deliver disability awareness training, tailored specifically for our staff working across our screening services. It’s part of our ongoing work to support disabled people to access screening.
