🌊 Licensing for Seaweed Aquaculture In a recent industry meeting led by our partner, Ann Ruddy, CEO at Alga (Seaweed) Ltd. & Redrose Developments Ltd, stakeholders came together to discuss challenges and opportunities within the seaweed aquaculture sector. The focus was on the complex licensing processes that often slow down growth and hinder progress. Recommendations that emerged from the meeting: ➡ Streamlining Licensing: The need for clear timelines, accountability, and centralized coordination was emphasized to simplify the process. ➡ Supporting Community Farming: The formation of producer organizations to offer collective support was highlighted as a way to reduce individual burdens. ➡ Developing Monitoring Tools: Participants stressed the importance of tracking ecological impacts to ensure compliance and demonstrate sustainable practices. ➡ Proving Regenerative Benefits: Using scientific data to attract policy backing and secure funding was identified as crucial for long-term growth.
