International Migrants Day is an opportunity to recognise the vital contributions of migrant workers and reinforce our commitment to safeguarding their rights and well-being. Migrant workers are a key part of our workforce. Often forced to migrate due to political instability and economic crises, they are a vulnerable population. At Fyffes, we are pleased to provide them with new opportunities and decent work. In Costa Rica, Nicaraguan employees account for over 39% of the workforce on our pineapple farm and 30% on our banana farms, which indicates the Costa Rican agricultural industry’s dependency on the Nicaraguan labour force. We also employ Guatemalans, Salvadorians, and Hondurans on our farms in Belize and we assist them with their legal employment status. Today, we stand with migrant workers and remain dedicated to creating a fair and inclusive supply chain. #InternationalMigrantsDay #Fyffes #MigrantWorkers

With great pride, we announce that our subsidiary, SOL in Honduras, has been recognised by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and the Honduran Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility, FUNDAHRSE, as part of the Inclusive Business Good Practices Awards, held in San Pedro Sula on 4th December. SOL was the only company to receive this distinction in the category: 🌱 Vulnerable Communities Affected by Climate Change. This recognition highlights the work carried out under the Strengthening Resilience Mechanisms in Vulnerable Households in Honduras and Guatemala Project, a collaboration with GOAL Global to improve adaptation and resilience to climate change in local communities. Key initiatives implemented include: ✅ Training sessions on climate change, risk management, and access to safe water ✅ WASH fairs in schools, promoting water, sanitation, and hygiene ✅ Construction of menstrual hygiene modules in key communities ✅ Rehabilitation of water systems and provision of water filters Through this project, SOL and Fyffes reaffirm their commitment to community well-being, prioritising sustainability, innovation, and replicability in their efforts. This achievement would not have been possible without the collaboration of GOAL, local communities, and other stakeholders who share the vision of a more inclusive and resilient future. #Sustainability #Inclusion #ClimateChange #GoodPractices #ResponsibleBusiness

🌍 Today is Human Rights Day, a day to reflect on the importance of dignity, equality, and fairness for all. At Fyffes, respect for human rights is central to how we do business and engage with the people and communities that sustain our global supply chain. Our recently published 2023 Human Rights and Environment Due Diligence Report highlights the steps we’ve taken to strengthen our commitment to human rights, including: ☑️ Conducting Human Rights Impact Assessments (HRIAs) across our owned farms and suppliers. ☑️ Completing Community Needs Assessments in 100% of the neighborhoods surrounding our farms in Latin America involving over 2,200 people across 50 communities in five countries to identify risks and inform mitigation strategies. ☑️ Enhancing grievance mechanisms like the Fyffes Ethics Hotline, an independently run, confidential, and anonymous platform available to all stakeholders, ensuring everyone has a voice. ☑️ Collaborating with suppliers to uphold the highest standards of fair treatment, including tackling risks like modern slavery, child labour, and discrimination in all forms. Guided by international frameworks like the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we remain committed to transparency and continuous improvement, addressing human rights risks and creating safe, fair workplaces for all. Today, on International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the transformative power of volunteering in creating meaningful change. At Fyffes, we are deeply committed to protecting our planet, supporting the communities we serve, and promoting the well-being of our employees. As part of this commitment, in 2024, we are launching a new initiative that provides office employees one day off annually to engage in volunteer activities. This program strengthens our communities and empowers our employees to make a positive impact. In Central America, we have coordinated high-impact volunteering efforts focused on improving public infrastructure in schools and community colleges, as well as organizing reforestation days in areas near our farms. Additionally, our volunteers have dedicated countless hours to supporting the Food Bank, assisting with essential tasks such as repairing and organizing food and goods to aid vulnerable families in Costa Rica. Together, we are working toward a more sustainable and resilient future. #Fyffes #InternationalVolunteerDay

On #WorldSustainableTransportDay, Fyffes is proud to highlight our ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of transporting fresh produce from farm to table. Sustainability is integral to our operations, ensuring a positive future for the environment. We are selling and transporting more crownless pineapples to further enhance sustainability. Without the crowns, over 30% more pineapples fit per load, significantly reducing carbon emissions. The removed crowns are replanted in the pineapple fields or shredded and given to local farmers to be used for animal feed. For consumers, crownless pineapples minimise organic waste and reduce time and effort involved in preparation. Together with our logistics partner Maersk, we are actively promoting the Eco Delivery tool, a product that assists our customers in achieving their decarbonization goals. #WorldSustainableTransportDay #Sustainability #CrownlessPineapples

Today, on #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofViolenceAgainstWomen, Fyffes stands in solidarity with all women and advocates for safe, equitable, and inclusive workplaces. At Fyffes, fostering gender equality is not only a priority but a fundamental aspect of our core values. We are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered. In our recently launched Human Rights Report for 2023, we highlighted our commitment to establishing dedicated training for gender-based violence and harassment and roll it out to Latin America. We are pleased to say this work is already underway and will be completed by the end of 2025, as we extend our anti-harassment and bullying training to farm and ripening centre employees. While we take pride in the progress made so far, we recognise that there is much more to accomplish on this important journey. Today, we renew our commitment to shaping a workplace and community that are free from violence, bias, and discrimination. #GenderEquality #SafeWorkplace #InclusiveWorkplace

Today, on World Children's Day, we reflect on the importance of promoting and protecting children’s rights around the world. 🌍 At Fyffes, we are deeply committed to upholding the rights and well-being of children who may be impacted by our business. We actively work to ensure that our supply chain is free from child labor and that we foster positive, lasting change in the communities where we operate. Here are some of the ways we are making a difference for children: 🔷 Providing fresh, healthy fruit to support children’s health and well-being. We offer fresh tropical produce year-round and donate surplus to food banks that serve vulnerable communities across Latin America, Europe, and North America. 🔷 Applying UNICEF’s Children’s Rights and Business Principles to assess potential risks to children's rights in our supply chain. We transparently report on our findings and actions to mitigate risks. 🔷 Investing in community development, particularly in education and healthcare. This includes building schools, childcare facilities, playgrounds, and school kitchens, as well as providing medical brigades that offer vaccinations, medicines, and building medical centres. 🔷 Promoting youth employment and skills development through scholarships and technical training programs. 🔷 Conducting localised environmental impact assessments to understand how our operations affect local communities, along with climate change risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks to vulnerable populations. On this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to not only safeguarding children's rights but to positively contributing to the communities where we work. Together, we can help create a brighter future for all children. #WorldChildrensDay #Fyffes #ChildRights #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #CorporateResponsibility

The newly remodelled facility offers consultation rooms, a medication dispensary, and waiting areas, ensuring comfort and care. It will serve as part of Belize's national medical system, bringing services like pre- and post-natal care, vaccinations, family planning, and health education to the community.
