This weekend, Team #Resiliath, a group of five exceptional students from St Brigid’s College, Loughrea, is in Saudi Arabia to represent Ireland at the F1 in Schools World Finals, the largest STEM competition in the world! Glanua are incredibly proud to sponsor this team who pitched their business to us in Loughrea last year and blew us away! And check out this car!!🏎️🏎️🏎️ Combining engineering, design, marketing, and teamwork, these students have built a miniature CO2-powered F1 car capable of reaching speeds over 140km/h. The team won the National Title in Galway, and now they’re taking on the global stage. We'd like to wish Dahami Perera, Om Yadav, Bibin Binu, Aisling Corry and Sole Lopez in Team Resiliath the best of luck. It's an outstanding achievement to get this far and represent your school, your family and Ireland! 📽 Check out this video showing the sequence of works over the last 12 months upgrading the Kenmare Wastewater Treatment Plant (WwTP). The footage highlights the impressive scale and progress of this critical project for the people of Kenmare. Glanua is delighted to be leading the upgrade of the #Kenmare WwTP and Cromwell’s Bridge Pumping Station (PS) on behalf of Uisce Éireann Irish Water and Kerry County Council. The current plant in Kenmare has an organic capacity of 5,800 Population Equivalent (PE) and experiences emergency overflows during high flow periods. The proposed design will increase the capacity to 9,800 PE, enhance storage capacity at Cromwell’s Bridge, and improve effluent quality to meet the future Wastewater Discharge Licence emission limit values. Key features of the upgraded plant include: 🔵 New Integrated Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) system with two new Final Settlement Tanks (FSTs), an upgraded existing FST, and a new tertiary filter system. 🔵 Enhanced sludge handling with a picket fence thickener (PFT), sludge holding tank (SHT), and screw press for dewatering. 🔵Three new buildings, three odour control units, inlet works, grit and FOG classifiers, as well as lime and ferric dosing facilities. 🔵A new pump station with an 810 m³ storage capacity. For the past eight years, Kenmare Town has faced restrictions on new developments due to its overburdened wastewater system. Once the upgrade is complete, it will open new opportunities for development in Kenmare and significantly benefit homes and businesses in the area, ensuring a reliable and efficient wastewater treatment system that meets future demands and environmental standards. Well done to the team working on this project. Looking forward to the end result! #WastewaterTreatment #Wastewater

Our team on the Yorkshire Water Blackburn Meadows (BBM) site in Sheffield took part in a #community #litter pick along the canal path at BBM. The team removed 10 bags of rubbish and demonstrated our ongoing commitment to environmental and community engagement.    This section of the path is accessed from outside our site but runs directly through the area where we are currently working. It's a popular spot for cyclists and walkers in the area.   The litter pick was a great opportunity to contribute to the upkeep of this shared space, ensuring it remains clean and enjoyable for everyone who uses it.    Well done to all who participated and helped us make a positive impact on our community environment! 🌿 #Community #LitterPick

Excitement is building as #Loughrea and #Cappataggle gear up for this Sunday's Galway GAA County Senior Hurling Final! Glanua is delighted to support both clubs with a €1,500 donation each. We have deep ties to both these communities. Our headquarters is in #Loughrea, while #Cappataggle holds a special place in our history as one of the first water treatment plants (#WTP) to enter a long-term Operations and Maintenance contract as part of the Galway Group Water Scheme (GWS) Bundle. Indeed, there’s healthy rivalry amongst Glanua employees, with Loughrea native Ann Mahony facing a strong Cappataggle contingent, Hannah Campbell, Kenneth Kearns, Ava O’ Brien and Cathy Skehill-Glynn! 👊 Managing Director Karl Zimmerer visited both camps this week, ahead of Sunday's clash at Kenny Park, Athenry. Cappataggle is chasing their first title, while Loughrea aims to reclaim past glory they had in 2006. Glanua is delighted to support both these communities in their efforts to promote fantastic community spirit in their respective parishes - something both Glanua and the GAA is founded upon! Best of luck to both teams! ☘ 📸 Presenting cheque at Cappataggle WTP, Hannah Campbell, Steve Keary, Cappataggle Chairperson Tony Nevin, Player Cian Stankard, Karl Zimmerer, Fiona Stankard, Manager Padraic McHugh and Peter Gaynor.  📸 Presenting cheque at Loughrea Hurling Club is Loughrea Manager, Tommy Kelly and Captain Ian "Ducky" Hanrahan.  📸 Glanua employees Cathy Skehill-Glynn, Ann Mahony and Hannah Campbell. #UpCappy #HonTheTown #LocalCommunities

𝐈𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝟏𝟏 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬. How many of these tragedies could have been prevented with clear instructions and effective safety systems? We recently had the privilege of hosting Jason Anker MBE, who shared his personal story about the devastating, life-changing consequences of an avoidable fall from a ladder. Jason’s experience reminds us to ask ourselves: 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬, 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐛? During the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Safety Campaign we welcomed Chris and Ruairi from SpanSet UK and Westport Equipment to our Cork and Leixlip project sites where they demonstrated the importance of effective safety measures, showing how accidents can be entirely avoided with the right controls in place. 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐛, 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟: 👉𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬? 👉 𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤? 👉 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝? 👉 𝐀𝐦 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞? Thanks to Ruairi O`Neill from Westport Equipment for organising the demo with Chris James and taking the time to show us the preventative systems that are available. #CIFSafety24 #WorkingAtHeight

Larry Kirwan from Groundforce also gave a superb Excavation Safety presentation, including an introduction to shoring, in Macroom WwTP. Excavation carries with it a variety of health and safety risks, ranging from cave-ins to falls, and these dangers must be mitigated accordingly. ⚠ 7 Most common factors of why excavations fail: 🚧 Water ingress 🚧 Weather conditions 🚧 Weak points 🚧 Inadequate shoring 🚧 Faulty / damaged equipment 🚧 Site activities 🚧 Surcharges 💡 Before you dig, always ensure: ✅ Service drawings are checked. ✅ A survey is done by a competent person, and services are marked onsite. ✅ Risk assessments, permits, and checklists are completed. ✅ Trial holes are dug at all service locations. ✅ A banksman is present during digging, layers are thin (<25mm), and a smooth bucket is used. ✅ Hand digging begins when warnings or services are detected. Thanks to John William O'Sullivan and Larry Kirwan for sharing their experience and delivering an excellent safety session. #CIFSafety24 #ExcavationSafety #Water #Wastewater

A big shout out to the 25 Glanua employees who braved the #Runamuck challenge in Co. Kildare over the weekend, in aid of the new Children’s Emergency Department at #Cork University Hospital, before Storm Ashley swept over the country. Runamuck is a cross-country obstacle event designed to push both mental and physical strength — and who better to rise to the challenge than the Glanua team! 💪 The 5.5km course featured over 50 obstacles, including bogs, ditches, streams, balance planks, net scrambles, and even a floating pontoon bridge across a lake. It was reported the bog run in particular separated the country folk from the city folk, with both shoes and dignity lost along the way! (no finger pointing who🤐) It was a fantastic day with lots of fun and mud! A huge thank you to our delivery partners and colleagues who have helped raise over €1600 to date! 🙌🙌 There’s still time to contribute to our iDonate page: https://lnkd.in/ehzkS5QG 💜 The Children’s Emergency Department at Cork University Hospital is one of the busiest in the country and will provide much-needed specialised care in a comforting environment for sick and injured children.
