The School of Pharmacy at UCC are currently taking applications for several MicroCred courses which start in January 2025. These short courses which run from between 8 and 12 weeks are eligible to be funded by the HCI Pillar 3 Micro-credential Learner Fee Subsidy which has been introduced to enable more learners to address critical skills gaps and engage with lifelong learning through short, flexible courses known as micro-credentials. The HCI Pillar 3 Micro-credential Learner Fee Subsidy is funded by Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. Closing dates for these courses will be over the next few weeks and interested applicants are advised to submit their applications as soon as possible. MicroCreds team members from the Irish Universities Association and our partner universities were delighted to join colleagues from Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science in facilitating a two-day site visit for representatives from Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain to Ireland this week focusing on #microcredentials. The sessions today highlighted the work to date of the MicroCreds Project and our partner universities to develop a national framework for micro-credentials in Ireland and the creation of Europe's first national platform micro-credentials, MicroCreds.ie. We were also joined by representatives from our MicroCreds Enterprise Advisory Group to discuss our approach to university-enterprise collaboration to address critical skills needs and advance lifelong learning in Ireland. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with colleagues from Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain on micro-credentials in the future.
