The new IBC plastic frame pallet from SCHÜTZ: maximum stability, cleanliness and maximum efficiency in the warehouse. As global supply chains become more complex, so do the demands on industrial packaging such as our IBCs. Highly automated and hygienically demanding warehouses are no exception. This is why we at SCHÜTZ have developed the one-piece plastic frame pallet for our MX IBC series. As part of the Transat CIC Solo Challenge, Boris Herrmann, skipper of Team Malizia, has embarked on a tough and challenging journey across the North Atlantic. On 28 April, he set off from Lorient on the French coast, heading to New York alongside 32 IMOCA competitors. By starting in this race, the professional sailor has also secured the formal qualification for the upcoming Vendée Globe. Using state-of-the-art technology and supported by a highly motivated team, Herrmann not only navigates skilfully across the waves, but also sets an example for sustainability with the team’s mission “A Race We Must Win – Climate Action Now”. We are proud to announce that we have exceeded our energy saving targets three times over! As part of our "Climate Action Now!" programme, SCHÜTZ has set ambitious environmental and climate targets. We set ourselves the task of reducing the energy consumption of our production sites in Germany by at least 1.2 million kWh by 2023, and we are particularly proud that we actually saved 3.6 million kWh last year thanks to a wide range of measures! We have also massively expanded our own sustainable energy generation. Our photovoltaic and wind power plants generated over 57 million kWh of electricity from renewable sources. This alone has improved our CO2 balance by more than 21,000 tonnes. Order of Merit for Boris Herrmann A great honour for a pioneer of sailing and a man deeply committed to protecting the climate: Boris Herrmann, known for his outstanding sailing achievements, was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on 14 March. Herrmann has made a name for himself with an impressive five circumnavigations, including a non-stop solo trip as part of the Vendée Globe. However, Herrmann is not just an inspirational athlete, but also a champion of climate protection. He consistently builds bridges between these two worlds, for example, in 2019, when he sailed Greta Thunberg across the Atlantic to the UN Climate Summit in New York. On board his racing yacht, Malizia - Seaexplorer, Boris also collects important ocean data for climate research and shares this knowledge with the next generation through his educational programme: “Malizia My Ocean Challenge” teaches children around the world about the importance of protecting the ocean and encourages them to explore the world of sailing. As a technical partner and supplier, SCHÜTZ has been supporting Boris Herrmann and his Team Malizia since 2021 both in their races and in their commitment to a more sustainable world. Alone between sky and sea... What sounds like poetry to us is reality for Boris Herrmann. The world-famous professional sailor from Team Malizia has written about his experiences in a book of the same name. Boris visited us last Monday at the SCHÜTZ trainee day in Selters. Around 100 of our trainees listened intently and asked lots of questions as he took us on a journey into the world of sailing. After the discussion, everyone received a book with a personal dedication and a photo with Boris. Boris Herrmann is a pioneer. He sailed his first regatta at the age of 16, when no German had ever taken part in an ocean race. He went on to make a name for himself with a solo circumnavigation. Today, with his Team Malizia, he is a world record holder: in 2023, the four-man crew covered more distance in one day than any previous sailboat had ever done in 24 hours. In addition to sailing, Boris is particularly passionate about sustainability. During his sailing trips, special equipment constantly analyses the seawater - especially for CO2. In this way, Team Malizia makes a valuable contribution to climate research. The team has also created a mangrove reserve in the Philippines, which now contains one million plants. These absorb CO2 and protect the coast from storms. We are proud to be a sponsor and technical partner to Boris and Team Malizia.
