Vicky was a great friend of The Shona Project, and we promised that we would continue her legacy by educating the next generation of women so they have the tools to advocate for their own bodies and health. Davy, Eastgate Engineering and The Vicky Phelan portrait are a beautiful addition to our Shine Festival.
𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 - is a sentence you've probably not heard very often, if at all. However, here at Eastgate we are doing what we can to normalise the discussion. ♀️ Our Managing Director David Brennan owns the Vicky Phelan portrait and gives a lot of his time to touring Ireland as he presents Vicky's story during her battle with cervical cancer and the importance of empowering women to look after their own health. A few weeks ago, David took the portrait along to The Shona Project's Shine Festival where he spoke with over 2,000 young girls about Vicky Phelan and her story. Eastgate also sponsored the Vicky Phelan stage at the event in order to allow more speakers to talk about the numerous topics that surrounds women's health. For more information on Vicky Phelan, take a look at the link in the comments below.

🌟 Today marks a major milestone for The Shona Project National mentorship Programme! 🌟 We're thrilled to host our first workshop for mentors, designed to empower, upskill, and connect the incredible women leading our national mentorship programme. The session is being facilitated by the amazing Tara Rafter, who will guide us through: ✨ Session preparation – what to do before, during, and after. ✨ Co-creating the relationship between mentor and mentee. ✨ The powerful G.R.O.W model in coaching – and how to apply it effectively. After Tara’s workshop, we'll open the floor to our mentors for a rich discussion: ✔️ Sharing experiences from the programme so far. ✔️ Highlighting what’s working and where they need more support. This workshop is about more than skills; it’s about giving back to our mentors, helping them grow professionally, and building a strong community of women who can lean on and support each other. 💬 Here's what one mentor had to say about the programme so far: "I was afraid we might get stuck on how to get started, define goals, and next steps for our next meeting, but everything went well. I feel energised and looking forward to helping my mentee figure out which direction she would like to take after school. She is incredibly talented and self-aware and only needs some guidance on how to figure things out." It’s also an invaluable opportunity for us to gather feedback during this pilot year, as we work together to shape what could become one of our most impactful programmes to date. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing partners, Allianz, CBRE, McCann FitzGerald LLP, Fitzgerald Power, Vhi, Salesforce and &Smyth | Creative Communications for making this programme possible. Your support is helping us bring mentorship to life in a way that empowers women nationwide. 💕 #MentorshipMatters #WomenSupportingWomen #TheShonaProject

Today is European Equal Pay Day, the point in the year when, symbolically, women stop earning relative to men for the same work. This isn’t just a statistic; it’s a barrier that follows women’s lives, limiting opportunities, financial security, and ultimately holding back the potential of every girl and woman. At The Shona Project, we’re committed to ensuring every girl in Ireland has everything she needs to reach her potential. Today, we are asking for your support, by helping to fund our impact using the link below https://lnkd.in/eyrcwjBt Every small donation helps us take a step forward. And follow us at @shonadotie to learn how you can help. 🌟 Exciting Milestone Alert! 🌟 Tonight, we’re bringing all our incredible mentees together for our very first group workshop as part of our pilot mentorship programme! This evening is all about mindset — setting big dreams and learning how to make them a reality. ✨ We’ll kick things off with a fun activity: Imagining the future and the headline we’d each love to see in ten years. What story will they be proud to tell? 🔍 From there, we’ll dive deep into the power of a positive mindset, understanding our values, and working with our favourite life equation, E+R=O (it’s much more fun than any maths class!). Our goal is to help these brilliant young women leave with a clear plan for turning their ambitions into achievements. 💪 But it’s not all about what we need to work on — we’ll celebrate our strengths, too! We’ll explore the strengths they already have and how they’ve used them in their daily lives. By the end, we hope to see our girls feeling inspired, empowered, and ready to tackle anything! Stay tuned for more updates from our mentorship programme. We’re so proud of the progress our mentees are making every day. 💫 To learn more about our programme, head over to https://lnkd.in/em58A4Ve A big thank you to our fabulous partners Allianz, CBRE, Fitzgerald Power, Vhi, Salesforce, &Smyth | Creative Communications and McCann FitzGerald LLP. #MindsetMatters #MentorshipJourney #GirlsEmpowered #FutureLeaders #TheShonaProject

At the Shona Project, we feel it's important to amplify the voices of the girls and young people so that those who make decisions that impact us all can hear our stories. This is their opportunity to have their voices heard. Our national survey helps us to tell our story together. So, if you have a girl or non-binary teen in your life who is aged 12-18, we'd love to hear from them and how they are REALLY doing. Teens can complete the survey here -> https://lnkd.in/ecaamxMd P.S. The survey will take 15 minutes, but, if they choose to, they will be entered into a draw to win 1 of 5 €100 vouchers from a store of their choice, once we get to 1000 responses! A big thank you to Beca Wistreich at The Outcome for supporting us in this research. Tammy Darcy | Ellen Conway | Natasha Thompson-Duggan | Alice Clifford | Lynetta Wang

🌟 It was an absolute joy to share the Ireland AM stage this morning with our amazing mentee, Katie! 🎤 Katie opened up about her experience in our mentorship programme, and hearing how much her mentor, Emma Coughlan ACII, has helped boost her confidence and sense of self in such a short time was truly heartwarming. 💖 We are so proud of the positive impact mentorship can have! 🌱 If you'd like to learn more about our mentorship programme, feel free to reach out at info@shona.ie.
