Today is European Equal Pay Day, the point in the year when, symbolically, women stop earning relative to men for the same work. This isn’t just a statistic; it’s a barrier that follows women’s lives, limiting opportunities, financial security, and ultimately holding back the potential of every girl and woman. At The Shona Project, we’re committed to ensuring every girl in Ireland has everything she needs to reach her potential. Today, we are asking for your support, by helping to fund our impact using the link below https://lnkd.in/eyrcwjBt Every small donation helps us take a step forward. And follow us at @shonadotie to learn how you can help. Many of the conversations about #climatefinance at #SIDS4 have affirmed the work of Global Fund for Women. Private investment in poorer countries is limited, the global climate finance mechanisms are largely inaccessible and don't reach the masses, and global financial institutions are not designed to serve these populations. While we continue to demand and work towards system change, we also recognise the urgency of meeting the most vulnerable populations where they are, and providing the resources immediately required to resource their work and reduce their vulnerability. This is our current approach to providing inclusive, just finance for climate action.
By standing with movements, we offer a way to redirect despair and anger into solidarity through action. Research shows that autonomous feminist movements are one of the primary drivers of lasting social change—more powerful than national wealth, progressive political parties, or even the number of women in government. That’s why we fund movements—and as a regular monthly donor, you can provide ongoing support for feminist movements. If you can, join #1Point9Rising with a donation or by signing up for our email list: https://lnkd.in/g2EdJEhU

Redefining Work: Gifts, not money only, for Women's Empowerment in Africa As a gender specialist leading a non-profit, I constantly encounter a critical question: how do you empower a woman who has faced immense hardship, now raising her children, without immediate financial promises or equipment donations? Through experience, we've discovered a powerful solution: the "gift-centered approach." We guide women and young girls in discovering their unique talents and how these gifts can positively impact themselves, their families, and their communities. Our organization has demonstrated the ability to achieve impactful outcomes even when working with women from diverse educational backgrounds Our African communities often expect individuals to simply accept whatever work they find, neglecting the importance of self-discovery and purpose. Though we all know that real sucess comes from that alignment. As changemakers, I believe we must champion a new vision of education and work. Real education and personal development should not remain in limited access for a few people. This is especially crucial for women and girls who have overcome significant obstacles and are still living in poverty. As we continue to refine our advocacy efforts, we aim to secure increased donor support for personal development initiatives alongside existing education and income-generating activities. Happy belated workers day LTL #GiftCenteredWomenEmpowerment #WomenAndWork #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #EmpoweringCommunities

🌍 Human Rights Day – December 10, 2024 🌍 This Human Rights Day, we reflect on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which enshrines the fundamental rights and freedoms that belong to all of us. At Women Working Worldwide, we’re committed to ensuring that women workers, particularly those in global supply chains, can access and claim their rights to fair treatment, safe working conditions, and equality. Women are often disproportionately affected by human rights violations, especially in sectors where exploitative practices persist. That’s why we work tirelessly to empower women through advocacy, training, and partnerships, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld. This year, we invite you to support our mission. Whether it’s through a donation or simply sharing our work, your actions make a difference. 💡 Ways to support us: Donate directly: https://lnkd.in/gEqtA7R Donate while you shop online: Give as You Live Purchase cards that give back: Making a Difference Cards Every contribution counts. Together, we can create fairer workplaces and brighter futures for women worldwide. What could a new government change for the women's sector? It's unlikely that any incoming government will be spending much to support charities. But there are changes we can ask for that won't cost lots of money, but could make a big difference to our sector: - an immediate review of the commissioning and procurement rules as they pertain to women's services. - implement a firewall between immigration enforcement and public bodies like the police. - implement all of the 2020 Harms Panel recommendations for family courts. Trusting women is at the very core of Uplift’s mission - to transform the lives of women in crisis. It's part of the trust-based philanthropy we care so deeply about. In order to provide agile, direct financial assistance, it is vital that we trust the women we are serving. In 2023, Uplift supported 202 women and children. This would not be possible without trust. Having an innate trust in our grant applicants allows us to move quickly in their moment of need. Instead of getting bogged down with bureaucracy or stipulating that Uplift funds can only be used in specific ways, we place dollars into the hands of women, immediately. Because we believe—we know—that when women feel encouraged and empowered, they are able to lift themselves out of crisis. #internationalwomensday2024 March 8th 2024 There is not a single reason to be happy today. There are 19 good reasons to get out and shout your heart out. For all of you who are sending flowers to your loved ones, we don’t want these flowers anymore. here's an alternative suggestion. Convert these flowers to an action, that could really make an impact: * deliver a talk at a school at your neighborhood to empower the girls * volunteer to help with HW for kids that need help * donate money to any organization that supports women, from all cultures * think of young women in your community, at work, or within your family. What can you do to help them thrive? #iworkforgm #GMrs_lead

Today’s call out is for Women Helping Women Fund Tri-Cities, whose grantees HAVE TO PAY in order to receive their grants. Specifically, each organization is required to fill a table of ten at the annual luncheon, at a minimum “donation” of $100 per person. So not only do grantees have to come up with $1,000 to get their grants, but they have to tap into their networks in order to fill their tables. That is after spending the money to print eleven paper copies of their application plus eight attachments, and deliver them in person. Yes, in-person delivery is required. The funder doesn’t publish grant amounts on their website, but our contact says they are typically $2,500 to $25,000. Regardless of size though, these are extremely #CrappyFundingPractices! Many of Women First's partner organizations are led by young mothers who make difficult decisions daily. Limited funding means they often choose to pay themselves less so that a program is resourced, or to miss critical networking opportunities because funds don’t cover childcare. When grassroots groups account for the time participants spend on care work, they find it can be 10 times more than men. The mothers we work with schedule trainings around care responsibilities, sensitize men, and accommodate young children in training spaces. They are on the frontlines of every movement for social change globally. They are advocating to strengthen labor laws, reduce violence against women, and protect the environment - in other words, to transform their communities for the future. Join Women First and show mothers everywhere that you see them, love them, and celebrate them for all that they are.
