#Biodiversity forms the web of life upon which we depend for so many essential things – food, water, medicine, a stable climate, economic growth, and more. The biodiversity we see today is the result of 4.5 billion years of evolution, increasingly influenced by human activity. Biodiversity is also our strongest natural defense against climate change. In this episode, John Elkington, author and world authority on corporate sustainability, shares his thoughts on the crucial role biodiversity plays in sustainability strategy. Transforming residual household waste, including all organics, into a climate-positive thermoplastic 🌎
עלינו
UBQ Materials transforms hard-to-recycle household waste, including organics, into a climate-positive material that can be used to replace oil-based plastics and composite materials. By using UBQ™ material, brands and manufacturers can reshape how most things are made by helping divert waste from landfills and incinerators, removing and avoiding GHG emissions, and preserving finite natural resources. For some things there's recycling. For everything else, there's UBQ.

As part of our commitment to accelerating decarbonization, we’re excited to be a supporter of #Deploy24 (Demonstrate, Deploy, Decarbonize 2024), the second annual gathering of leaders and innovators dedicated to advancing clean energy in the United States. Hosted by the Department of Energy, Deploy24 will spotlight cutting-edge solutions, foster impactful conversations, and build partnerships to drive economic growth and decarbonization. Participating in this conversation is important to us especially as our UBQ technology converts mixed household waste— including organics and hard-to-recycle materials—into a sustainable, bio-based thermoplastic composite. This innovation reduces greenhouse gas emissions, plastic reliance and natural resource extraction, helping build a more sustainable future. #UBQ #CleanEnergy #Decarbonization #Sustainability

Recently, #California Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB261 into law, requiring companies with revenues over $1 billion doing business in the state to disclose their direct Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Companies with revenues over $500 million will need to report their financial risks related to climate change and measures to reduce and adapt to those risks. Corporate reporting under the new law is set to begin in 2026. While UBQ Materials alone can't transform the entire carbon footprint of the value chain, we can help make a significant positive impact. UBQ Materials turns mixed municipal household waste into a climate-positive material that helps companies achieve their sustainability targets. Every kilogram of UBQ™ brings new life to 1.5 kilograms of waste destined for landfills and incinerators—significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Companies like PepsiCo are already using pallets #MadeWithUBQ and decreasing the carbon footprint of these products. Our UBQ™ material is made using green energy, with zero water consumption and generates no effluents, combustion, or emissions. Let’s work together for a more sustainable value chain. Our Co-founder and Co-CEO, Jack (Tato) Bigio, recently spoke with Karen Laird from Sustainable Plastics magazine to discuss about waste and its impact on the planet. At UBQ Materials, our mission is clear: A World Without Waste. We've developed an innovative solution that diverts waste from landfills and incineration, reduces the net carbon footprint of products, and promotes a circular economy. 🌍 Our technology converts mixed household waste into a thermoplastic composite material, paving the way for a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics. Curious to learn more? Check out the full article on Page 12 for an in-depth look at how UBQ is giving waste a new life! https://lnkd.in/eyV3iyui

Over 30 countries have signed the #COP29 Declaration on Reducing #Methane Emissions from Organic #Waste, highlighting the urgent need for global action to tackle this powerful greenhouse gas, which is 86x more potent than CO2 over 20 years. 🚨 Reducing methane emissions is critical for hitting short-term climate targets and limiting global warming to 1.5°C. UBQ Materials is already part of the solution! 🌱 Our patented UBQ technology converts mixed household waste— including organics and hard-to-recycle materials—into a sustainable, bio-based thermoplastic composite. This not only cuts greenhouse gas emissions but also reduces plastic reliance and lessens natural resource extraction. 🌎 Read the Declaration: https://lnkd.in/dgfKUF-r

When it comes to carbon footprint, size doesn’t matter. Whether large or small, every product has its own carbon footprint and impacts the environment. In #Brazil, SOROPLAST has taken a significant step by making their HDPE drum handle with UBQ™ material. To test the mechanical properties, the drum handle successfully supported a full 60 kg liquid container for 8 straight hours —without any incidents! While this change may seem small, it contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, diverting waste from landfills and incinerators, and fostering a more robust circular economy. How sustainable is your gym? 🏋️♀️ Gyms are often overlooked as merely places to exercise, but their infrastructure and equipment have a carbon footprint that impacts the environment. Steel is the most common material used in gym equipment and machines. However, a closer look will show you that they also include many plastic and rubber parts, like grips, bike pedals, and steppers. Did you know most plastic applications can be made with UBQ™ material? By doing so, manufacturers can reduce the carbon footprint of their infrastructure and products while maintaining the quality and performance you expect. Every part made with UBQ™ not only supports a circular economy but also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Learn more about UBQ: www.ubqmaterials.com #UBQ #Sustainability #Fitness
