A thought piece on 'caring communities'. https://lnkd.in/gJuSHD6y
"... Creating a community of care is a step in the right direction, but it raises important questions about the nature of care itself. If we can only care for those who don’t burden us, then we’re missing the point. A true community of care is one where people can show up as they are—sometimes strong, sometimes vulnerable—and still feel accepted. If we reject victimhood outright, we risk creating a space where people wear masks of invulnerability, where they pretend everything is fine even when it’s not. And what’s the point of a community like that? A group of old friends should be a place where people can lean on each other, not just for light-hearted banter, but for the real stuff of life—the messiness, the struggles, and yes, sometimes, the victimhood. In the end, the question isn’t whether we should care, but how we choose to care."
