Reinventing Digital Infrastructure
About us
CloudExtel is India’s first full-stack Network as a Service (NaaS) provider offering digital infra services such as Small Cell Hosting, Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Intra-City Fiber, & Virtualised Networks. We cater to telcos, ISPs, data centers, enterprises, & large content providers to address the challenges emerging from the hypergrowth of data consumption in India. With our pioneering neutral host solutions, we are enabling the densification of 4G networks & accelerating the transition to 5G networks. We own & operate networks that address critical points of network stress, facilitate sharing, & adopt emerging heterogeneous network technologies. We cater to 20% of partner-deployed small cell requirements of large Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) through 6000+ sites across 475 cities & have deployed over 7,000 kms of fiber in more than 50 cities in India. We have also deployed the first neutral host Shared RAN network infra in India, & are one of less than 10 players globally to have done so. CloudExtel is associated with the Neutral Host & Infra Sharing Project Group at Telecom Infra Project (TIP) which aims to promote innovative business models, in collaboration among a broad set of stakeholders, to accelerate neutral host connectivity solutions. We are also one of the associate members of the Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) which represents India’s digital infra players that develop, build, own, & operate the nation’s wireless infra. In 2023, Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets, & principal investment arm of Macquarie Group, & Advencap, a strategic investor in digital infra acquired a majority stake in CloudExtel to enhance our portfolio of services. In 2024, we secured our first external debt from NIIF Infrastructure Finance Ltd. & Aditya Birla Finance Ltd. With a strong backing of institutional investors, we are on the path to Reinventing Digital Infrastructure in India, with enhanced coverage, capacity & speed.

Scaling a business is as much about foresight and adaptability as it is about execution, and CFOs play a pivotal role in making this possible. They are no longer confined to managing just finances and have evolved into one of the most critical levers for driving business transformation. Balkishan Chandak, Chief Financial Officer, at CloudExtel, recently participated in a panel on 'Discussion Shaping the Future of CFO Leadership' at the CFO Leaders Summit and Awards 2024 organised by Transformance Forums in Mumbai. He shared that CFOs evolve business models and change mindsets by aligning financial strategy with organisational goals. He also emphasizes that in our technologically driven world, CFOs should champion digital transformation by implementing technologies like AI and automation to enhance efficiency. Balkishan touched on the critical trait of visionary thinking—an ability to look beyond immediate challenges and anticipate disruptions that could reshape the industry. This mindset not only helps navigate volatility but also focuses on identifying areas where the company can innovate, invest, and create long-term value that extends far beyond the balance sheet. As India rapidly evolves into a digital-first economy, the need for reliable and high-capacity wireline infrastructure has never been more critical. Yet, Indian cities, continue to grapple with the challenge of inadequate wireline connectivity. Deepak Saxena, Executive Vice President of Wireline Operations at CloudExtel shares how we’ve made significant strides in building this foundation, having already deployed over 11,000 km of fiber and brought FTTH (Fiber to the Home) to 800,000 homes across India. 𝐓𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐃𝐨 𝐈𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐥, 𝐎𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 Strength often reveals itself in the most unassuming ways – in the late nights spent solving problems, the small gestures that bring joy to others, and the quiet determination to show up every day, no matter what. This International Men’s Day, we chose to honour these moments – not just what men do but who they are, in all their uniqueness. Our celebrations across offices were infused with fun, laughter, and camaraderie. Surprise activities like ramp walks let our colleagues showcase their suave style, reminding us that confidence isn’t confined to boardrooms. Adding a spirited dose of energy to the cheerful banter across the room, we hosted a strength showdown where participants tested their endurance by holding up a steady weight for as long as they could. But more than the activities, the heart of the day lay in the message: that men are more than providers or protectors. They are dreamers, nurturers, and collaborators who deserve as much care and recognition as they give. And, of course, the evening came to a close with the entire team enjoying some delicious treats because no celebration is truly complete without good food and even better company. To the men of CloudExtel and beyond: thank you for being you – for your resilience, your kindness, and the countless ways you make a difference. Once again, a very Happy International Men’s Day! The demand for efficient connectivity solutions is rapidly outgrowing traditional networks, driving the need for infrastructure that is cost-effective, smarter, and shared. Neutral host and infrastructure-sharing models are emerging as potential game-changers, paving the way for telecom operators, venues, cities, and various other stakeholders to collaborate in new and innovative ways. But the journey is still in its early days, and it requires alignment across players, innovative funding models, and a deep understanding of the benefits. This very theme was the focal point of the recent panel discussion on ‘Enhancing Connectivity with Neutral Host and Infra Sharing Business Models’ at Fyuz 2024, organised by the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), where Kunal Bajaj, CEO & Co-founder of CloudExtel, Co-chair, Neutral Host and Infra Sharing Project Group at TIP, joined other industry experts to unpack how these models could transform the telecom landscape. Here are some key takeaways from his discussion: • Neutral host and infrastructure sharing go beyond traditional tower-sharing. Establishing a holistic approach and defining what a neutral host actually entails is crucial, as it affects everything — from how venue owners approach these solutions to how mobile network operators (MNOs) collaborate. • Focusing on how revenue is generated in our neutral host Shared RAN solution, Kunal shared that operators pay on units of capacity to tap into high data demand zones. CloudExtel’s Shared RAN solution handles eight terabytes of daily data across nine railway stations in Mumbai, driving up capacity significantly and unlocking new revenue streams. This arrangement not only boosts income for operators by tapping into previously inaccessible revenue but also frees up capacity for enhanced coverage in surrounding areas, creating a win-win scenario that traditional infrastructure models struggle to achieve. • However, achieving widespread adoption is a gradual journey. In cost-sensitive markets like India, the emphasis remains on finding the right balance between technical excellence and economic feasibility. The economics of neutral hosting need to hit a tipping point where the business model becomes the intuitive choice for operators. At CloudExtel, we’re committed to making this vision a reality by leading the charge to bring the concept from an aspiration to widespread global adoption. CloudExtel is pleased to announce the launch of a white paper on the Neutral Host Infrastructure Sharing (NHIS) Framework authored by the NHIS project group of Telecom Infra Project (TIP). CloudExtel is a co-chair in this group, and this paper is the first step in establishing a framework around NHIS. A Neutral Host Network (NHN) allows multiple operators to share network infrastructure, reducing the total amount of investments, cost of operations and negative environmental impact for all players across the ecosystem while delivering enhanced coverage and capacity. A shared infrastructure model provides all stakeholders a strong foundation for future growth and innovation with efficient allocation and reallocation based on real-time needs by sharing resources. According to the Ericsson Mobility Report (2024), global mobile data traffic reached 145 exabytes per month in 2024 and is expected to triple by 2028 due to the increasing adoption of 5G. This surge in traffic coupled with existing challenges, makes the need for improved network coverage, and capacity, even more pertinent.
