In a landmark move towards enhancing India’s technological capabilities, the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have signed an umbrella agreement to develop indigenous technologies and strengthen their collaboration. Read more, ↗ https://lnkd.in/dinMWvz8 As part of this initiative, IRS and CSL have entered into a separate cooperation agreement to develop and certify ‘SWAYAT’, an autonomous vessel being built at CSL as a fully indigenous pilot project. The project is supported by key technology partners, including KPIT and other Indian manufacturers specializing in autonomous systems and components. SWAYAT will adhere to the highest standards, being verified according to IRS guidelines for Autonomous and Remotely Operated Vessels and Maritime Cyber Safety. The vessel will also feature an indigenously developed navigation and communication suite, certified by IRS.
