We are thrilled to share the impact of the maternal health awareness sessions conducted in Virudhunagar, an aspirational district in Tamil Nadu, with the generous support of EKAMUK. These sessions, held across multiple PHCs in the Kariapatty Block, provided critical information to ANC (Antenatal Care) mothers on birth preparedness, postnatal health, nutrition, hygiene, and safe physical exercises. With the active participation of health stakeholders and the involvement of 80 mothers across four sessions, the initiative successfully mobilized communities to prioritize maternal health. Mothers expressed deep appreciation for the tools and guidance provided, noting how it helped them make informed decisions for their health and their babies' well-being. At EKAM Foundation, we believe in fostering sustainable, community-driven health initiatives through the Ekam Health Model. This model empowers communities to take ownership of their health and well-being by building local capacity and fostering active participation in healthcare. On November 9, 2024, as part of this mission, Ekam Foundation conducted an impactful training session in Thiruthani for 41 Panchayat Committee members, including Community Health Workers and staff. Led by expert trainer Mr. Karuna, the training focused on empowering the new panchayat committee members with knowledge and skills to enhance maternal and child health in their communities. During this interactive session, members evaluated their local services in three key areas: ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) centers, health service centers, and ration shops. This hands-on approach allowed participants to actively identify both strengths and challenges within their panchayats. Through collaborative discussions, they gained a stronger understanding of community needs and came up with practical solutions to improve health services.
