SECI’s 1 GW/2 GWh standalone battery storage tender has recently achieved a tariff of INR 3.81 lacs/MW/month, marking a substantial 65% reduction from the INR 10.83 lacs/MW/month price set in SECI's first standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) tender. This discovery represents a significant step in making battery energy storage more cost-effective for India’s clean energy transition. Furthermore, the new tariff is 15% lower than Gujarat's GUVNL Phase 2 rate of INR 4.49 lacs/MW/month and just 2% above GUVNL’s Phase 3 rate of INR 3.72 lacs/MW/month.
