Our CEO, Chetan Kapoor, actively engaged with the participating teachers. The workshop emphasized #criticalthinking, #creativity, and real-world problem-solving through projects like circuit-embedded house models. It also covered inquiry-based #learning, #designthinking, and #computationalskills such as #coding and #algorithms to help #educators build future-ready skills. At the heart of the Women Empowerment narrative lies the idea of #GenderEquality. However, how do you even start talking of this till there is better and deeper understanding of the idea of #Gender? This was the question we posed to ourselves at Tech Mahindra Foundation when, around two years ago, we decided to deepen our focus on #womenempowerment. We started by looking inwards - trying to gauge the awareness, perceptions, and myths on gender that existed within the team - for which we took the help of IWWAGE - an initiative of LEAD at Krea University. They helped us confront our ingrained - and outdated - notions of what women "can do" and "should do" - these persisted even with womenfolk! Then we looked at the youth - the youngsters enrolled in our #SMART program - and not surprisingly, a host of patriarchal and sexist notions came to the fore. To address this, we started working on #GenderEd, a curriculum dedicated to demystifying the idea of gender and unravelling its layers and nuances. The team worked hard in coming up with the first version, which was then trialed with five groups - all boys, all girls, equal number of boys & girls, mostly boys, and mostly girls - and as you can imagine, the experience for each of these was varied and fascinating. We are now delighted to bring to you the e-learning version of the GenderEd course, which to me is one of our most important offerings in recent times. Spread over 6 hours but divided into short modules, the course can be an eye-opener for many - especially those with limited exposure to the idea of gender. Taking this, and asking others to do so, could be your first step towards addressing the issue of Gender Equality. SensATe Lab Inauguration – A Step Towards #Accessibility & #DigitalSkills for All! We inaugurated the #SensATeLab on 31 January in #Ahmedabad, in collaboration with Microsoft and Deaf Enabled Foundation - India. Equipped with #AssistiveTechnologies, the lab aims to enhance #DigitalLearning and accessibility, empowering students with speech and hearing impairments (SHI) to thrive. During the launch, 50 students with SHI explored and experienced the lab firsthand, gaining access to tools for inclusive learning. Mr Sajid Ali, Mr. Sandeep TKM (DEF), Ms. Ramya Miryala (DEF), Mr. Prateek Madhav (AssisTech Foundation (ATF)), Mr. Prakash (Gujarat Association of the Deaf), and other esteemed leaders were present during the inauguration. The last 5 months have been truly rewarding, setting up 20 Skill Development Centres in the Allied Healthcare Sector across #India. The journey spans the entire country—from Ludhiana to Nashik and from Howrah to Sriperumbudur—reaching into areas where we hadn't ventured before. Among the many inspiring encounters we've had, Prof. Sampat Kale's story stands out as extraordinary. As Principal of Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, his decision to vacate his official bungalow for establishing a centre demonstrates exceptional commitment to community development. Such gestures remind us of the profound impact one individual's dedication can have. “Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination,” perfectly captures these past five months. It's not just about the 20 centres established, but also about the incredible organizations and individuals we've met, the diverse perspectives we've encountered, and the transformative experiences along the way.
