  • In a series of programs targeted towards youth empowerment, VHAI conducted a sensitization event on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) at Mayoor School and Govt. Intercollege in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Over 250 students took part in interactive sessions that explored the serious health risks associated with alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and junk food. The students were highly engaged, asking thought-provoking questions and sharing their insights, reflecting a genuine desire to embrace healthier habits and make informed lifestyle choices. This initiative is a significant step in equipping the youth with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent NCDs and lead healthier lives. • We recently celebrated the 50th Annual General Body Meeting of VHAI in New Delhi. This year’s theme, Climate Change and Health, emphasized the urgent need to address the growing health risks from environmental changes. Climate change worsens existing health issues and introduces new threats like vector-borne diseases, respiratory problems, and mental health challenges, disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities. Addressing these requires community-driven solutions that build resilience and promote adaptation. We were honored to have Dr. Rajnikant, ICMR, chair the session, alongside distinguished speakers including Dr. Aakash Shrivastava, NCDC, Govt. of India, Dr. RC Dhiman, TCI Foundation, and Dr. Harshal Salve, AIIMS. Their insights highlighted the importance of collective action to tackle these challenges. The presence of representatives from our State Voluntary Health Associations enriched the discussions, reinforcing the value of collaboration at both national and grassroots levels. As we reflect on 50 years of service, VHAI reaffirms its commitment to supporting the government’s mission to build a healthier, more resilient nation. Together, we can drive lasting change. #VHAI #PublicHealth #ClimateChange #HealthEquity #50YearsOfImpact

  • In India, child marriage is more than a tradition, it is a profound violation of human rights that continues to affect countless lives. For over 20 years, VHAI has been on a mission to change this. Our mission combines education, health literacy, and collective social action to create lasting change. We have built a robust network of peer educators and formed impactful partnerships with self-help groups and religious leaders. Through these collaborations, we have facilitated access to school education, strengthened child protection systems, and promoted health literacy and awareness. This multi-faceted approach empowers adolescent girls and communities to break the silence around child marriage and address critical reproductive health issues. Our commitment remains steadfast. By harnessing collective social action & collaboration with local government departments, we strive to protect and empower every child. The journey is ongoing, but with every step, we move closer to a future where every child can choose their own path. Join us in this vital mission—because every child deserves the opportunity to shape their own future. #VHAI #EndChildMarriage #WomenEmpowerment #PeerEducator #Adolescent #ChildProtection
