[en] This report gives an illustrated survey of the Vivitron mechanical studies of the main parts: electrostatic generator, accelerating tube, injector, electrodes, storage tank, charging system and beam trajectory (19 drawings)

[en] A presentation of the new electrostatic accelerator facility called the VIVITRON is given, following the starting period during which the first 16 experiments using EUROGAM have all been successfully completed. Special emphasize is put on new concepts used for the construction of the machine. The first preliminary results from EUROGAM experiments are shown together with the other equipment which will be used soon and which are mainly the outcome of European collaborations. [en] We are studying the possibility to localize discharge phenomena in the Vivitron. This could give us informations about importance, repetition or cause of the discharges and so help us to plan and speed up maintenance. Simulations were made on a test bench and in the MP accelerator. Tests with specially designed piezoelectric sensors are scheduled in the CN accelerator with actual discharges, to establish the feasibility. Next year we will study data control problems and define an algorithm for the Vivitron
