AbstractAbstract
[en] Scientists from the LHCb experiment at the large hadron collider (LHC) in CERN have announced the discovery of a new particle named Ξcc++. This particle being made up of 3 quarks is a baryon but it is the first baryon ever discovered containing 2 charmed quarks. Its mass equals 3261 MeV which is almost 4 times the proton mass. (A.C.)

[en] A class of purely kinematical corrections to xi-scaling is exposed. These corrections are inevitably present in any realistic hadron model with spin and gauge invariance and lead to phenomenologically important M2sub(hadron)/Q2 corrections to Nachtmann moments

AbstractAbstract
[en] The eg3 experiment at the Jefferson Lab CLAS detector aims to determine the existence of the Ξ5 pentaquarks and investigate the excited Ξ states. Specifically, the exotic Ξ5-- pentaquark will be sought by first reconstructing the Ξ- particle through its weak decays, Ξ- → π-Λ and Λ → π-. A kinematic fitting routine was developed to reconstruct the detached vertices of these decays, where confidence level cuts on the fits are used to remove background events. Prior to fitting these decays, the exclusive reaction γD → ppπ- was studied in order to correct the track measurements and covariance matrices of the charged particles. The Λ → pπ- and Ξ- → π-Λ decays were then investigated to demonstrate that the kinematic fitting routine reconstructs the decaying particles and their detached vertices correctly

AbstractAbstract
[en] Two different methods were used to make polarized Λ0's in the Fermilab neutral hyperon beam. In the first method Λ0's were produced polarized for p1 greater than 1 GeV/c in p + Be → Λ0 + X at 300 GeV. In the second method polarized Λ0 daughters from unpolarized Ψ0decay were used: Ψ0 → Λ0π0. The strong production gave a factor of 3 less polarization, but a factor of 100 greater useful flux

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this paper, we presented the ground state energies calculated for some single and double cascade hyperon(Ξ-) hypernuclei. A two-term Gaussian (Isle type) potential with adjustable parameters is chosen as the Ξ-nucleus interaction, while a two term Yukawa-type potential has been chosen for the ΞΞ pair. In the three-body model calculation, we adopted the hyperspherical harmonics expansion (HHE) formalism. The resulting two- and three-body Schrödinger equations subject to appropriate boundary condition’s have been solved numerically to get the ground-state energies and wavefunctions. Computed values are in excellent agreement with the observed ones as found in the literature. Analysis of the calculated observables indicates that the hyperons stay close to the core-nucleus. Hypernuclei formed as a result of absorption of one or more Ξ-hyperon(s) by a normal nucleus (bound or unbound) are found to have more stability than those formed as a result of absorption of one or more Ξ hyperon(s) by the same nucleus. This fact flashes towards the possibility of the existence of a valley of strange hypernuclei near the drip lines. Key Words: Hyperon, Hypernuclei, exotic-nuclei, cascade hyper-nuclei, hyperon-nucleon potential, hyperspherical harmonics.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The construction of the recently approved Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) at GSI will allow to produce a large number of different double Λ-hypernucleus species by exploiting p--nucleus annihilations at energies just above the Ξ+Ξ- pair creation threshold. Among other physics goals, the P-ANDA (antiProton ANnihilation at DArmstadt) Collaboration is aiming to carry on an extensive program of high resolution γ-spectroscopy of such systems. The double Λ-hypernucleus production method and the proposed experimental setup are briefly discussed
