AbstractAbstract
[en] Independent analysis of the spectra from the Heidelberg-Moscow experiment has been carried out. A direct comparison of the peak intensities in the spectra allows for the conclusion that in the energy range up to 3200 keV the background is due to the detection of γ rays from the decay of trace impurities of anthropogenic and cosmogenic nuclides occurring in the apparatus between the HPGe detectors and the main (Pb and Cu) shielding. The 226Ra, 214Pb, and 214Bi γ rays observed in the spectra are shown to arise in the 226Ra rather than 238U decay chain. The estimates of the expected intensities of the weak 214Bi γ rays in the spectrum region around Qββ(76Ge) = 2039 keV do not contradict the observation of the peak at 2039 keV as claimed by Klapdor-Kleingrothaus and coauthors.

[en] The decay of 162Yb (Tsub(1/2)=18.9 min) has been investigated with Ge(Li) and Si(Li) detectors, beta-spectrograph and beta-spectrometer with toroidal magnetic field. The single gamma ray spectrum, the conversion electron spectrum, gamma-gamma and electron-gamma coincidences spectra have been measured. In all, 45 gamma-ray transitions have been observed. The decay scheme for 162Yb is proposed involving 18 excited states in 162Tm, 16 of which were previously unknown. (author)

[en] To date, there is fairly complete data on the decay scheme 140Nd → 140Pr → 140Ce, but the exact decay energy QE (140Nd) is still not known. When the decay energy QE does not greatly exceed the binding energy of the electron in the K-shell of the atom, then the fraction of K-capture in the electron capture (WK/WE) strongly depends on the decay energy. Therefore, the value of QE can be determined by measuring the ratio WK/WE. Data about the probability of K-capture can be obtained by studying the X-ray spectrum of the equilibrium mixture 140Nd+140Pr. This requires a high-resolution spectrometer that allows you to separate the Kα (Pr) and Kα (Ce) lines. The sample of 140Nd was obtained in a deep disintegration reaction by irradiating a Gd target with fast protons at the JINR synchrocyclotron. The Nd fraction, radiochemically isolated from the reaction products, was separated into individual isotopes on an electromagnetic mass separator of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems of JINR. The X-ray spectrum was recorded on the Si (Li) spectrometer of the Institute of Physics of the University of Aarhus, the resolution of which was 590 eV on a line with ET ≈ 40 keV.

К настоящему времени о схеме распада 140Nd → 140Pr → 140Ce имеются довольно полные данные, однако энергия распада QE (140Nd) до сих пор точно не известна. Когда энергия распада QE не очень сильно превышает энергию связи электрона на K-оболочке атома, то доля K-захвата в электронном захвате (WK/WE) сильно зависит от энергии распада. Поэтому величину QE можно определить, измерив отношение WK/WE. Сведения о вероятности K-захвата можно получить, изучая спектр рентгеновских лучей равновесной смеси 140Nd+140Pr. Для этого необходим спектрометр с высоким разрешением, позволяющим разделить линии Kα (Pr) и Kα (Ce).
