AbstractAbstract
[en] Computer aided analysis of disturbances and the prevention of failures (diagnosis and therapy control) in technological plants belong to the most important tasks of process control. Research in this field is very intensive due to increasing requirements to security and economy of process control and due to a remarkable increase of the efficiency of digital electronics. This publication concerns with analysis of disturbances in complex technological plants, especially in so called high risk processes. The presentation emphasizes theoretical concept of diagnosis and therapy control, modelling of the disturbance behaviour of the technological process and the man-machine-communication integrating artificial intelligence methods, e.g., expert system approach. Application is given for nuclear power plants. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This book is an introduction to the quantum mechanics of the angular momentum. After a description of the operators of spin and orbital angular momentum and their commutation relations the coupling of angular momenta is discussed. Then irreducible tensor operators are considered. Thereafter spherical harmonics are introduced together with correlation functions. In this connection the spherical harmonics is described. Thereafter the density matrix is considered with regards to polarization. Finally applications in scattering theory and many-body problems are considered. (HSI)

(HSI)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Advanced Light Source (ALS) at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (LBL) is a 1.5 GeV synchrotron light source facility consisting of a 120 keV electron gun, 50 MeV linear accelerator, 1.5 Gev booster synchrotron, 200 meter circumference electron storage ring, and many photon beamline transport systems for research. The Radiation Safety System for the ALS has been designed and built with a primary goal of providing protection against inadvertent personnel exposure to gamma and neutron radiation and, secondarily, to enhance the electrical safety of select magnet power supplies

AbstractAbstract
[en] In nuclear technology, software-based control systems with safety significance are increasingly being used. The question of determining the reliability of such systems using a generally recognized procedure has not yet been finally clarified. Experience shows that the risk of failure depends crucially on the complexity of the software in connection with its operating profile. In this research project, a methodology for measuring the complexity of the software of CPU-based controllers is presented and its applicability for measuring the complexity of programmable logic based on FPGAs is expanded. The complexity measurement method is described and its practical applicability to control technology functions is demonstrated. A vector is formed from the various complexity characteristics, which takes into account the complexity of the concept of complexity. It is the starting point for deriving criteria for evaluating the reliability of digital control systems.

Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] Using the ARGUS detector at the DORIS II storage ringe we have studied the production of antideuterons in e+e- annihilation at centre-of-mass energies around 10 GeV. From 21 events containing anti d candidates we determined the inclusive cross section 1/σdirhadxdσ/dp and the production rate in direct hadronic Υ(1S), Υ(2S) decays, which was measured to be (6.0±2.0±0.6)x10-5 anti d per event while in the continuum e+e- → qanti q only an upper limit of 1.7x10-5anti d per event (90% CL) could be obtained. Comparisons with a simple model and other ARGUS measurements hint at the underlaying production mechanism of antideuterons. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We point out that chameleon field theories might reveal themselves as an ''afterglow'' effect in axion-like particle search experiments due to chameleon-photon conversion in a magnetic field. We estimate the parameter space which is accessible by currently available technology and find that afterglow experiments could constrain this parameter space in a way complementary to gravitational and Casimir force experiments. In addition, one could reach photon-chameleon couplings which are beyond the sensitivity of common laser polarization experiments. We also sketch the idea of a Fabry-Perot cavity with chameleons which could increase the experimental sensitivity significantly. (orig.)
