‘Malls: Maximall Pompeii in anti-seismic guise’: following is Mark Up's interview with Aldo Giordano, ceo and technical director of iDEAS engineering and architecture, published in the October 2024 edition. Anti-seismic safety in malls is linked to both the evolution of regulations and the application of science and technique, elements that must always guide the engineer to implement seismically safe and state-of-the-art designs. This is a very important concept for iDEAS. Here is an extract from the interview that well explains what we are saying: “Unfortunately, the general trend, even today, is often to prefer facilities with behavior based on the principle of resistance, essentially for reasons of ‘tradition’ and the apparent simplicity of execution of prefabricated buildings. This principle is outdated today and Maximall Pompeii is the perfect application example: all the structures utilize dissipative elements with significant advantages both in the non-damageability of the main structures and in the size of the structures devolved to carry vertical loads (slender columns, absence of walls, absence of emerging beams, etc.)”. 🇮🇹 "Centri commerciali: Maximall Pompeii in veste antisismica": ecco l'intervista di Mark UP ad Aldo Giordano, ceo e technical director di iDEAS, pubblicata nell'edizione cartacea di ottobre 2024. La sicurezza antisismica nei centri commerciali è legata sia all’evoluzione delle normative sia all'applicazione della scienza e della tecnica, elementi che devono sempre guidare l’ingegnere a realizzare progettazioni sismicamente accorte e all'avanguardia. Questo per iDEAS è un concetto importantissimo. Ecco un estratto dell'intervista che ben racchiude quanto stiamo dicendo: "Purtroppo la tendenza generale, anche oggi, è spesso orientata a privilegiare strutture con comportamento basato sul principio della resistenza, essenzialmente per motivi di “tradizione” e di apparente facilità di esecuzione dei prefabbricati.
