This year, three artists and three international fashion designers will collaborate with the Material Innovation Lab (MIL) of the Kering group and 16 other partnering companies -including the Piacenza Group- to create innovative works of art and fashion. Aligned with Michelangelo Pistoletto’s “Third Paradise” vision, CirculART 4.0 brings together artists, designers, researchers, climatologists, and businesses to co-create a new paradigm where art, fashion, and sustainability unite. Together, we’re addressing critical issues like climate change and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For centuries, the Vicuña has been the ultimate symbol of rarity and refinement. Once reserved for Inca royalty, today it remains one of the most precious fibers in the world and, as one of the few exclusive brands with a centuries-old legacy in vicuña craftsmanship, we have transformed this rare fiber into exquisite fabrics longer than most can claim. Once on the brink of extinction, the vicuña population has now rebounded to approximately 550,000 thanks to rigorous conservation efforts and protections under CITES and national laws. Shearing follows the ancient Chakku ritual, a sustainable practice that ensures the well-being of the animals and the natural regeneration of their precious fiber. As for the communities of the Andes, the vicuña fiber is more than a material - it’s a livelihood. Through our ethical partnerships we ensure that local families receive fair compensation, preserving both their traditions and economic stability. We are proud to announce that, as the coordinator of the European TRICK Project, Piacenza 1733 is at the forefront of fostering a sustainable and circular textile industry. Funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program, (Traceability Information Management System, Interoperability, and Circular Services Marketplace) the TRICK project represents a pioneering initiative in textile sustainability and circularity. This blockchain-based platform enables companies throughout the textile supply chain to securely record and share essential sustainability data, encompassing everything from raw material origins to production processes. This project marks a significant step forward in creating a more responsible and transparent textile sector, one that promotes sustainability and circularity across the industry.
