Clive Mitchell Fausto Panizzolo Alexandros Falkonakis Gary Barrett Moveo Walks Brace Orthopaedic THE EXOBAND A Lightweight Assistive Walking Device Which Can Solve the Problem of Poor Pelvic Stability and Weak Hip Flexion I have worked with the Exoband with many patients over the past few years with fantastic results. There are many products available that control the foot and ankle but do not address the difficulties with hip control. The ExoBand assists the wearer to bring their legs forwards during swing phase through the recoil of the springs and cords within the device, reinforcing a more normal walking pattern. It is therefore possible to walk further with increased efficiency and reduced fatigue allowing increased function within daily life. The device can easily be used in conjunction with ankle orthoses and foot drop stimulators and can enhance the effectiveness of their use. It is very comfortable to wear and very versatile to adjust according to the wearer’s presentation and variability at the time. The wearer can therefore adjust the tension to give themselves the appropriate level of assistance on a particular day or as they fatigue through the day. You can also adjust the belt and leg straps to change the angle of pull with the resistance to assist a change of ad/abduction and internal/external rotation bringing them more into midline with swing through. I am working with Brace Orthopaedic and Moveo Walks to try and spread the knowledge of the effectiveness of the Exoband and therefore allow more patients to benefit from its assistance. As a Specialist Neuro Physiotherapy clinic in Lancashire UK we can also assess and supply the Exoband privately.
