The REGENby2 will integrate innovative two-phase scroll machines into its multi-generation lab-scale prototype 🛠️ #Expanders convert the thermodynamic energy contained in a fluid into mechanical power and pass it on to generators which then produce electricity. ➡️ Two-phase fluid expanders are able to work with fluid in wet vapour phase (liquid + vapour) to produce mechanical-electric energy due to simultaneous expansion of the fluid’s two phases. #Compressors use mechanical power coming from variable speed motors to increase the pressure of the working fluid, concentrating the energy it contains and transporting it through the system. ➡️ Two-phase fluid compressors are able to work with fluid in wet vapour phase to increase simultaneously the pressure of the fluid’s two phases, employing external mechanical-electric energy. These successful experimental tests were performed at the Thermodynamics Laboratory of the Université de Liège. Also, the Laboratory of Steam Boilers and Thermal Plants of the National Technical University of Athens has successfully developed and tested a two-phase scroll expander.
