At Santa Tresa we work on the basis that the more complex the #biodiversity of our land, the more resilient our vines will be. In our current situation, with #climatechange a major threat to everything we do, resilience in our vines and their successful adaptation to changing conditions is fundamentally important. 👇 Around 14% of the #SantaTresa estate is dedicated to crops other than vines – ancient varieties of fruit trees, olive trees, various Mediterranean plants – are grown around the estate. This #diversity promotes a variety of species – animals, insects, plants – that would not normally be present alongside vineyards. Any practices which did not directly protect and enhance biodiversity were abandoned many years ago. For example, we abandoned the practice of deep ploughing, in favour of encouraging long periods of grass coverage through times of greater rainfall (autumn, winter and spring). A #naturalhabitat for wildlife: our vineyards are alive with all manner of wildlife, from reptiles to small mammals, to numerous species of birds – we have many rabbits, foxes and birds of prey. #ItalianWines #OrganicWines #SicilianWines #WineSustainability #SustainableWines

We are really proud to support #Veganuary again this year! 👇 Veganuary started in 2014 as an English not-for-profit movement with the objective of encouraging people to eat less meat. The #wine world can follow this philosophy all year round. It is our ethical choice to produce wines in a #sustainable way and take care of the environment. We produce #Vegan wines by replacing animal-derived fining agents and adjuvants, such as albumin, casein and isinglass with vegetable proteins such as peas or potatoes. Eliminating the use of animal-derived products in the various stages of wine production, is essential if you want to run a company in an #ethical and #environmentallyfriendly way. 🌱 This type of choice has immediate beneficial repercussions – it protects animals and a the same time reduces CO2 emissions. Being vegan is not just about not eating meat, there are also wider benefits such as reducing your water footprint and fighting deforestation and all that is involved with the production of meat. It goes without saying that prevention of cruelty to animals is important, but so is respect for the environment. 💪 We have to try to have less waste! The perfect #wines for this month? Our EQUALITAS certification is confirmed again this year!  We aim to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible, continuing to produce wines of high quality with a look towards a more sustainable future for #futuregenerations.   There are three main areas evaluated:   1️⃣ ENVIRONMENTAL We carefully monitor #CO2 emissions and reduce them, for example by using #solarpanels.
