It was a pleasure for the Embassy of Sweden to once again participate in the biggest annual gathering for independent media in the MENA region, organized by our partner organisation ARIJ Network, #IMS, fostering press freedom, innovation, and human rights. #Sweden is proud to partner with the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), the leading organization promoting investigative journalism across the #MENA region. The recent visit by Jakob Granit, Director General of Sida to ARIJ in #Amman ahead of the #ARIJ17 Annual Conference highlights the strength and importance of this partnership. #MediaFreedom #SwedenInJordan 🇸🇪 #InvestigativeJournalism #HumanRights #Innovation #IMS #Arij17

✨ Truly inspiring days in #Sweden focusing on sustainable textile and apparel ecosystems 🌍 to discuss challenges and opportunities in light of the new EU regulations 🇪🇺 with a delegation from #Jordan 🇯🇴, #Egypt 🇪🇬, #Morocco 🇲🇦, #Tunisia 🇹🇳, and #SriLanka 🇱🇰. The study visit was part of the 🇸🇪🇨🇭 funded program International Trade Centre #GTEX_MENATEX. The delegation met with key Swedish stakeholders and companies within the area of trade and sustainable fashion 🌱. This was the Swedish reform agenda for development cooperation in action 🤝, and we all left Sweden energized ⚡, capacitated 📚, and full of innovative ideas 💡 for collaboration. Three takeaways: ✅ Sustainable fashion is here to stay and is a necessity for increased competitiveness and trade 🌿👕. ✅ Key to success is promoting innovation 💡. Sweden is one of the most innovative countries in the world 🌟 thanks to the collaborative spirit between private companies and academia 🏢🎓. ✅There is a lot of interest and ideas 💡 for collaboration 🤝 from both the Swedish private sector and institutions and the respective countries 🌍. A huge thanks to the Swedish Embassy in Amman 🇸🇪🇯🇴 for facilitating this amazing initiative! 🇸🇪 Jakob Granit, Director General of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency Sida, participated in the #CairoMinisterialConference to enhance the humanitarian response in #Gaza. Since October 2023, Sweden has provided over $50 million in humanitarian aid to Gaza, remaining one of the largest donors. Despite strong international support, more aid is urgently needed. "The humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic, and the deteriorating conditions on the ground only underscore the urgent need for a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of civilians, ensure the release of all hostages, and reduce regional tensions. #Sweden supports all diplomatic efforts to achieve this goal and will continue to do so." Sweden calls for adherence to international law to protect civilians and ensure the safe and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance. We will continue to support Gaza financially and politically, advocate for a ceasefire, and push for a two-state solution for lasting peace. #Sweden #HumanitarianResponse #CairoMinisterialConference #Gaza Sida

Today is International Day for the Elimination of #Violence against Women. Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed by a close relative. Violence against #women and girls is a human rights violation and a public health problem that spans across geographical, class and age boundaries. It affects women in all facets of their lives – at home, in the workplace, online and in public spaces. Sweden prioritizes the fight against gender-based violence. We stand up for the women and girls whose voices have been silenced, and we support those living in fear and vulnerability. Through Sida, we work with and support many civil society and women’s rights organisations around the world that work every day to combat violence and protect vulnerable women and girls. #NoExcuse #16Days #OrangeTheWorld UN Women - UN WOMEN SWEDEN UN Women Arab States
