🌿According to a report by IPCC, the impacts of climate change on oceans and the global water cycle are becoming increasingly evident. 📍Over the next 20 years, the report highlights key projections: •Ocean Warming: More than 90% of the heat trapped by greenhouse gases is absorbed by the oceans, leading to rising sea temperatures. This is disrupting marine ecosystems and affecting coastal communities and fisheries. •Sea Level Rise: Accelerating ice sheet and glacier melt is driving sea level rise, posing significant risks to low-lying areas and increasing vulnerability to flooding. •Shifts in the Water Cycle: Changes in precipitation patterns are expected to intensify, with some regions experiencing more severe droughts while others face an increase in extreme rainfall and flooding. These shifts will challenge agriculture, water resource management, and infrastructure. 🔹These findings underscore how climate change will directly impact our lives and the urgent need for collective action. The Carbon Accounting Alliance is now 1 year old, and what a rollercoaster is has been!! 😁 During 2024 we grew massively, to 570+ Member Organisations, with 1,000+ individuals in 50+ countries. Collectively, #CAA Members measure carbon footprints for somewhere between 90,000 - 115,000 companies. To put that in perspective, in 2023 ~23,000 organisations disclosed to CDP... Massive thank you to everyone who has supported and participated in the CAA's journey thus far, particularly the dozens of volunteers who have led our various Working Groups and activities.
