One of the major advantages our new pressless magnet fabs (#NPLP) have over traditional Transverse Die Pressing (#TDP) is solving issues associated with the scarcity and high price of heavy rare earth elements (#REE) by eliminating the need for the use of dysprosium (#Dy) in the magnetic powder. Industrial Base Analysis & Sustainment (IBAS) The U. S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy has requested US$1.1 billion under the IBAS program prioritizing industrial capability development in areas such as critical chemicals, castings & forgings, and energy storage. This request allocates US$192.7 million to developing a midstream magnet supply chain, a critical step in developing domestic mine-to-magnet capabilities and reshoring some magnet production to the US. The #IBAS is also looking to strengthen the US supply of rare earth element oxides (#REO) and metals while supporting the development of resources for defense applications. Nihon Denji Sokki Co., Ltd.
