Optimizing Pump Efficiency with Real-Time Power Measurement Pumping systems are essential components in various industries, but they are also significant energy consumers. Ensuring their efficiency is critical for reducing operational costs and environmental impact. To address energy inefficiencies, our engineers conducted real-time measurements of power consumption in several pumping systems in Nakuru County. Their analysis uncovered several key causes of inefficiency, including: ✔️Improper sizing Oversized pumps operated inefficiently, requiring throttling to manage flow, while undersized pumps struggled to meet demand, operating under excessive strain. ✔️Operation outside the Best Efficiency Point (BEP) Pumps were frequently operating far from their Best Efficiency Point (BEP), leading to hydraulic inefficiencies. This misalignment increased energy consumption and accelerated wear on system components ✔️Constant speed operation The absence of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) meant that many pumps operated at fixed speeds, regardless of fluctuations in system demand.
