🌟 Huge congratulations to our portfolio company, Turaco! Earlier this week, Turaco made history by becoming the first insurtech in #Kenya to receive an underwriting license, marking a new chapter in making insurance accessible to everyone in the region. This incredible milestone enables Turaco to design and deliver solutions that meet the unique needs of Kenyans. As CEO Ted Pantone shared, "Today marks a major milestone for Turaco in Kenya…we’re pushing innovation even further to ensure more Kenyans can access the insurance they need. No one should have to skip hospital care due to financial constraints." The launch event brought together key figures and supporters, including the GM of M-KOPA Kenya, the Communications Authority of Kenya, the U.S. Embassy to Kenya, the CEO of the Insurance Regulatory Authority, and Hon. Susan Mang'eni, Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Cooperative and MSMEs. Hon. Mang'eni emphasized the transformative power of microinsurance to empower mass market households and small businesses in Kenya. We’re thrilled to support Turaco on this journey as they build a healthier, more resilient future for all Africans. Here’s to many more groundbreaking achievements! #EnzaCapital #Portfolio #Turaco #Insurtech #Microinsurance #Kenya #Innovation #FinancialInclusion

Proud moment for Turaco! Today we launched our Kenyan underwriting entity, making history as the first insurtech in Kenya to receive an underwriting license. This is an important next step in our journey to create accessible insurance! We’re now empowered with a greater ability to design solutions that work for every Kenyan. The event allowed us the opportunity to hear words and stories from our customers, our partners, the GM of M-KOPA Kenya, Communications Authority of Kenya, Embassy of the United States of America to Kenya, CEO of Insurance Regulatory Authority, and the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Cooperative and MSMEs. As our CEO Ted Pantone highlighted, "Today marks a major milestone for Turaco in Kenya. We've worked closely with leading insurers in the country, helping them innovate and grow. Now, we are pushing innovation even further to ensure more Kenyans can access the insurance they need. No one should have to skip hospital care due to financial constraints. As a fully licensed insurance company, we can now harness our technology to provide the insurance people want and need." Principal Secretary, Ministry of Cooperative and MSMEs, Hon. Susan Mang'eni, flagged the significance of the event saying, “Our ministry is driven by the goal of creating an environment that nurtures entrepreneurial endeavors, propels economic growth, and empowers every level of Kenyan society. Today's launch of Turaco Microinsurance signifies a significant moment in the pursuit of this vision. #StartupSpotlight Craydel is using technology to enable students and young professionals to choose the courses that suit their skills, interests and are aligned with what the continent requires. Founded in 2021 by Manish Sardana, John Nguru and Shayne Aman Premji, they provide a comprehensive platform for students to discover, compare and apply to their best fit higher education options. For young people trying to access information on higher education in Africa and make career choices, the path is fraught with confusion and misinformation. The stats are stark: 46% of youth who enrol in higher education do not believe that they made the right choices, and 40% of graduates end up working in areas outside their field of study. Enza Capital led Craydel’s pre-seed round in 2021. Since then the Company has enabled 500+ students to enrol into higher education and signed up 400+ university partners across 40 destinations. We continue to be great fans of of this fantastic team!

By 2035, African youth entering the job market will outnumber the rest of the world combined. This will either be a demographic dividend or a demographic tsunami, depending on the opportunities available to them. Currently 11m Africans who enter the workforce annually while only 3.7m jobs are created. Venture backed Edtech and Human Capital companies can unlock the potential of this young tech-savvy population to provide global digital services. Our friends at VestedWorld collaborated with Rethink Education to share their reflections on Edtech's ability to alleviate the unemployment crisis in Africa.
