ESOMAKIDS EDUCATORS' BREAKFAST!!! On Thursday, November 7, 2024 Esoma Solutions brought together an incredible gathering of teacher drawn from Thika and adjacent areas. In this session, we had a powerful engagement with Educators on use of technology in their classrooms. The theme of the day was "Empowering Classrooms: The role of technology in enhancing core teaching and supplementary learning outcomes." Speaker after speaker gave insights on the indispensable place of technology in the classroom, from experiences in teaching and careers. We had Thomas Warirah share his experiences on how technology transformed his accounting career, and Dr. Kirimi of Kenyatta University share on why the future is technology-based for all educators. Teachers in the meeting, led by Tr. Carol and Tr. Cillah also shared wonderful insights from both teaching and parenting perspectives. Our CEO, Julius Njuguna shared his academic journey and why he believes readily available technology can be a game-changer for foundational learning. Our COO, Esborn Kariuki pieced together the conversations, emphasizing the beauty of giving every child a personalized touch with the intention of ensuring they gain proficiency in FLN. IMPROVING FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING!!! At a time when Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) proficiency has been bleeding in out continent, its is imperative that we come together and find a way that works for our children. It has been heartwarming seeing all the conversations emerging from #UNGA79 in New York City regarding investment in education, especially foundational learning in Sub-Saharan Africa. Esoma Solutions is on the frontline in the quest to improve FLN proficiency in Kenya through the platform Esoma Kids. The platform integrates the best of child's play, edutainment and curriculum-aligned needs in personalized learning to foster a self-paced path to FLN proficiency for every child. In our work, we have seen that integration of these elements have a profound effect on the engagement of a learner in e-learning. We have moved over 400% in learner engagement from a low of 6 minutes per session to over 30 minutes per session for every learner, and the learning outcomes are impressive. Together with the Mastercard Foundation in the EdTech fellowship at iHUB Nairobi, we are working on scaling such experiences to ensure that every child we reach has a chance at FLN proficiency - at their own pace. We need more players to inject investment in this space to ensure that the future of our continent is safely safeguarded through literacy. NAIROBI EDTECH FESTIVAL 2024 This past weekend, our team exhibited at the EdTech festival at iHub Nairobi, where we showcased our product to keen users and enthusiasts of the EdTech ecosystem, and were very pleased with the reception we received from users. The future of learning keep tilting in favour of technology, and we'll keep pursuing the best for learners and teachers. It was great to be in the same space with other EdTechs like NABU, LoHo Learning, Somachat Services and host more. In one of the masterclasses at the festival moderated by Tabitha Wairimu Ngugi and her learning science team, we explored ways in which EdTechs can serve a central role in enhancing learner-centred teaching.
