📰 Lettre économique de l’Afrique de l’Est et de l’Océan Indien (AEOI), sur le secteur de l’irrigation en AEOI 🌾 🔎 Faits marquants : 🌍 Les pays de la région AEOI, où l'agriculture occupe une place centrale dans l'économie, affichent des niveaux d'irrigation très disparates, variant de 0,5 % en Ouganda à 79 % à Madagascar, malgré l'importance de l'irrigation pour la souveraineté alimentaire et la résilience face au changement climatique. 💦 De nombreuses terres équipées ne sont pas irriguées, avec des taux d’utilisation inférieurs à 10% en Érythrée et près de 50% en Éthiopie et au Soudan, en raison de l’insuffisance des infrastructures et de données obsolètes. 🤝 Le secteur de l'irrigation, soutenu par des bailleurs, des programmes gouvernementaux et des initiatives privées, présente des opportunités limitées pour les entreprises françaises, mais la finance climat pourrait favoriser son développement face à la demande croissante de solutions d’irrigation innovantes pour l’adaptation au changement climatique. 🌱 Des initiatives privées locales financent des systèmes d’irrigation solaire pour les petits producteurs soutenus par des bailleurs, tandis que les exploitations à grande échelle reçoivent des financements privés pour les cultures d'exportation.
