We’re excited to host a side event, “Financing the Future: Sustainable and Equitable Models for Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Africa,” at #AHAIC2025! Did you know? Despite massive global health investments, over half the world’s population still lacks access to essential services. CHWs play a vital role in bridging this gap, yet millions—especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)—struggle without formal support, proper equipment, or reliable funding. With a funding gap of $4.4 billion in sub-Saharan Africa, sustainable and equitable financing is crucial for building resilient health systems. Join us with partners VillageReach, Africa Frontline First, and UNICEF as we explore innovative funding solutions that can drive real change. 📅 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 📍 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲: 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗛𝟭, 𝗞𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗶, 𝗥𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 To Register: https://lnkd.in/dijfpB8r #LivingGoodsAtAHAIC #AHAIC2025

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼! We’re thrilled to share that, in collaboration with World Vision, Living Goods, and the County Government of Busia in Kenya, 235 community health promoters (CHPs) have been successfully trained! This partnership has been key in providing CHPs with the skills and tools they need to deliver quality healthcare to their communities. Over a 2-day intensive training early this month, CHPs enhanced their expertise in Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) and Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH). After the training, they were equipped with essential supplies to ensure high-quality service delivery right at the community level. They also had a Social Health Insurance registration drive. Field coaching and monthly refresher trainings – to keep CHPs sharp and effective! At Living Goods, we’re proud to support the county in mobilizing resources and strengthening partnerships to empower CHPs across Samia sub county. #PartnershipsForImpact #CommunityHealth

#CHWSpotlight Meet Julienne—the hope of Kaibo Village! 🌟 Before she became a community health worker (#CHW), mothers had to travel long distances for healthcare, uncertain if they could afford treatment. Today, Julienne brings care to their doorsteps, treating children for malaria, diarrhea, and malnutrition. "Before, we felt helpless. Now, Julienne is here. She reassures us and treats our children," says Monique, a grateful mother. Healthcare should be accessible to everyone. CHWs like Julienne are making that a reality! 💙 Read her inspiring story here: https://lnkd.in/dsqH_Ejd #CHWsSaveLives #HealthForAll

📢 Updates from the 74th Health Ministers Conference (HMC), hosted by the East Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC). Living Goods team is in Lilongwe, Malawi, engaging with regional leaders to shape the future of health under the theme "Looking Ahead Post the Golden Jubilee." The conference was officially opened by the Vice President of Malawi, Michael Bizwick Usi. Among the high-profile guests in attendance were the Minister of Health of Eswatini, Hon. Anifa Bangirana Kawooya, State Minister of Health - General duties, who was delegated by Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, Uganda’s Minister of Health; the Minister of Health of Malawi; the Permanent Secretary of Health from Lesotho; the Permanent Secretary from Mauritius; and the Minister of Health from Tanzania. Additionally, several other countries were represented by senior ministry officials. Dr. Joan Oracha (DBA), our Chief Programs Officer, led an insightful session on "Community Health as a Catalyst for Change in Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC)." She emphasized the critical role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in closing healthcare workforce gaps and delivering up to 70% of essential healthcare services. Living Goods’ innovative DESC model—Digitally Enabling, Equipping, Supervising, and Compensating CHWs—was presented as a game-changer for optimizing CHW performance and driving impact at scale. Kenya’s success story showcased the power of strong government partnerships and adaptive strategies in community health. The session sparked powerful discussions, with leaders reaffirming the importance of community health in achieving UHC. As Raj Kishore, Permanent Secretary of Mauritius aptly put it: “UHC is an equalizer—we aim for equitable health services and quality care for all.” At Living Goods, we are committed to supporting regional initiatives and helping countries achieve their health goals. Our work aligns with key frameworks such as: ✅ The AU Declaration—endorsing the 2 million CHWs Initiative to scale up the community health workforce. ✅ The Monrovia Call to Action by Africa CDC—urging countries to integrate CHWs into national health systems for stronger Primary Health Care (PHC). 📢 Join the conversation and support community health! #HealthForAll #UHC #CommunityHealth #LivingGoods #ECSAHC #CHWs
