Dear Community Health Workers,
This Thanksgiving, we want to express our deepest gratitude to you—the heart of our health systems. 💛
Thank you for your dedication, for showing up every day with compassion and resilience. Thank you for sacrificing so much to ensure your communities are cared for. Thank you for reaching those who might otherwise have no access to any form of healthcare, bringing hope and healing where it’s needed most.
Your work is nothing short of extraordinary. You are our heroes. You are champions of change, protectors of health, and the lifeline for so many.
From all of us at Financing Alliance for Health, thank you, thank you, thank you. 🙏
This Thanksgiving, we are deeply grateful to LGT Venture Philanthropy (LGT VP) for extending their multi-year partnership with Financing Alliance for Health (FAH)! 🙌💙
Together, we are addressing the USD 5.4 billion annual funding gap for community healthcare in Sub-Saharan Africa, paving the way toward achieving universal health coverage. 🌍💡
Since 2020, LGT VP’s support has enabled FAH to evolve into a key player in Africa’s healthcare landscape. With this renewed partnership, LGT VP’s non-programmatic grant will support institutional strengthening and sustainability planning, allowing FAH to drive its ambitious mission of mobilizing at least USD 1 billion for primary and community healthcare systems.
💬 A shared vision:
Angela Nyambura Gichaga , AoEC, CEO & President of FAH, shared, “Our steadfast commitment to health systems transformation continues to deepen our partnership. Innovation and collaboration will remain our superpower. Asante and onwards!”
From mobilizing $500M for health systems to upskilling 4,200+ leaders and professionalizing 450,000 CHWs, FAH’s impact is scaling, and the journey has just begun! 🚀
Thank you, LGT VP, for believing in our mission.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a critical issue affecting millions across Africa, with over 40% of women impacted. This year, we’re spotlighting the incredible role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in combating GBV, supporting survivors, and driving prevention efforts in their communities.
Meet Mathews Phiri and Gerald Kasongo, two dedicated community-based volunteers in Zambia who are making all the difference in GBV response.
Through specialized training offered by Zambia's Ministry of Health, Mathews and Gerald have become champions in their communities, raising awareness about GBV prevention and providing critical care to survivors. They stand as powerful advocates for women and children while also addressing a less-discussed issue: gender-based violence against men.
🗣️ "GBV impacts men too, but the stigma makes it even harder for them to report and seek help," says Mathews. Their work highlights the importance of tackling this stigma and creating safe spaces for all survivors of GBV, regardless of gender.
Both Mathews and Gerald emphasize the urgent need for more resources to expand CHW programs, ensuring that more trained individuals can step up to make a difference.
Their stories remind us that investing in CHWs is investing in the future of equitable healthcare and GBV prevention.
🎥 Watch their inspiring stories and hear firsthand about their experiences in addressing GBV, supporting survivors, and challenging stigmas in their communities.
