Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing

About us

Energy is one of the fundamental blocks of social economic development and access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 is Goal 7 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In East Africa today, most people are not on the grid but rely on kerosene for lighting and those on-grid often use kerosene due to low reliability of electricity. As more than 85% use biomass for cooking, East Africans suffer high cost of dirty fuels and toxic fumes that have negative impact on health, productivity, and the environment. Mwangaza Light is a clean energy distributor committed to reduce energy poverty for better welfare and to enhance energy efficiency for higher reliability. Our last mile distribution builds on partnership with faith-based organisations, the co-operative movement, and other like-minded partners to reach urban and rural populations. We enable religious leaders and other opinion makers to take on environmental stewardship for greater transition to clean energy and climate change mitigation. Mwangaza Light has created teams of operation in Kenya and Uganda. The Green Churches initiative is our flagship programme as it incorporates our extensive collaboration with faith-based partners into one business model.

Local Impact in Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu Counties 🌱 We are proud to support DanChurchAid Kenya’s efforts in food security, accountability, and climate action in Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu Counties. Recently, our Deputy Head of Mission, Søren Knudsen Møller, and Emma M. from our Climate and Resilience team visited the region to witness the impact of the embassy's partnerships. They visited small-scale farms where Anglican Development Services North Rift Region (ADS – NR) trains farmers in techniques that enhance food security, boost income, and build climate resilience. With the National Council of Churches Kenya, they learned about the Uwajibikaji na Maendeleo (Accountability and Development) project, which empowers communities to demand greater social accountability. Søren and Emma also engaged with Mwangaza Light on their Green Churches Program and clean cooking initiatives promoting energy-efficient stoves – and even enjoyed a delicious meal prepared on one! 🍲⚡ And in the Home of Champions, it wouldn’t be a complete visit without hitting the running trails that inspire Kenya’s legendary long-distance runners – so, of course, they joined a morning run! 🏃🏽♂️

  • Mwangaza Light is thrilled to partner with DanChurchAid Kenya under the Pathways to Prosperity program to implement a transformative project in Turkana County. This project aims to address energy poverty, foster environmental conservation, and create economic opportunities for both refugees and host communities in the region. Mwangaza Light will introduce clean energy solutions into the area while working with religious leaders in both churches and mosques on tree-growing programs to combat deforestation and promote environmental restoration. 🌳 This project marks a crucial step in transforming Turkana County, combining sustainable energy solutions with community-driven environmental efforts to create lasting change.🌍 #dkaid #danida

  • Meet Daniel, a clean energy champion Lighting Up Ithanga, Murang'a County. Daniel sets out on foot every morning, carrying solar solutions to some of the most remote corners of his village. He is a man on a mission to bring affordable, clean energy to households that have long lived in darkness. Mwangaza Light first entered this community through a rocket cookstove program, which helped reduce reliance on harmful cooking methods. This initiative laid the foundation for our current work in the region, where, thanks to the support of our valued partners at FasterOikos we can now provide solar energy solutions to households in need. Before our involvement, many homes relied on expensive, smoky kerosene lamps for lighting. These lamps posed serious health risks and limited opportunities for children to study and for families to thrive after sunset. The introduction of solar energy brought a much-needed shift, illuminating homes with clean, sustainable lighting and even enabling households to charge their devices. This change has been made possible through the dedication of Change Agents like Daniel, affectionately known by the locals as “Daniel wa Solar za Mwangaza,” whose presence has become synonymous with brighter evenings and healthier homes. At Mwangaza Light, we are proud to support local heroes like Daniel, whose work ensures that no one is left behind in the journey toward clean energy. • Today marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. No woman should ever face violence over a late meal. 💔 This #16DaysofActivism, we stand in solidarity to end gender-based violence, because for many women, the burden of cooking with limited resources often leads to conflict and abuse. It’s time to address these injustices and create homes built on respect and understanding. In Elgeyo Marakwet County, Mwangaza Light, with support from DanChurchAid Kenya, is empowering women by bringing access to clean cooking solutions and educating them through conversation cards. These discussions help raise awareness, challenge harmful norms, and equip women with the knowledge to make informed decisions—ultimately working toward safer, healthier homes for all. Together, let’s advocate for a world where no woman is blamed or harmed for circumstances beyond her control. #EndGenderBasedViolence #16DaysOfActivism #EmpowerHer #dkaid
