The adoption of a sexual harassment policy is a crucial step in addressing the gaps where university administrations have struggled to effectively handle cases of sexual harassment. Previous policies often failed to meet the needs of students and inadequately addressed instances of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). The Global #PlasticsTreaty presents a unique opportunity to tackle plastic pollution comprehensively. As the world prepares for the fifth and final #INC5 meeting (Nov 25–Dec 1, 2024), we collaborated with CEJAD KENYA to host a #MediaBreakfast. This platform provided an opportunity to reflect on the treaty journey and emphasize critical concerns for discussion at INC5. We also called on African leaders to stand in solidarity, demanding decisive action to reduce plastic production and eliminate hazardous chemicals throughout the plastics lifecycle. Many of these nations are trapped in a vicious cycle of #debt and #climate vulnerability, with high debt payments often exceeding what they can invest in health, education, and #sustainabledevelopment. For leaders of these nations, the stark choice between servicing debt and investing in climate resilience and green growth limits the potential for a sustainable future for 3.3 billion people. This #COP29, global leaders have a critical opportunity to address these intertwined crises.
