🌍 GGGI is excited to release our latest technical report: "Identifying Good Practices in National Adaptation Plans: A Global Review." This in-depth analysis, conducted in collaboration with the partners, examines National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) submitted to the UNFCCC, using a framework that covers 7 key areas: Goals, Participation, Fact Base, Policy, Implementation, Finance, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E). The report highlights both strengths and weaknesses across these areas. It finds Finance to be the weakest link, with only 38% of good practice elements included, while Fact Base, Policy, and Implementation show stronger representation, with at least two-thirds of good practices covered. In addition to assessing the current state of NAPs, the report offers valuable insights and actionable recommendations to improve adaptation planning and foster peer-to-peer learning among countries. 🌱 Explore best practices and discover how to strengthen climate resilience through more effective NAPs. 🔗 Read the full report here: https://bit.ly/41eNMtE #ClimateAdaptation #NAPs #ClimateResilience #NDC #ClimateAction Shivenes Shammugam GGGI Africa GGGI Latin America & the Caribbean GGGI Pacific GGGI MENA GGGI Viet Nam GGGI Cambodia GGGI India

GGGI welcomes the announcement of a landmark Sustainable Campus Initiative jointly declared by four of South Korea’s premier universities during a ceremony hosted at GGGI Headquarters in Seoul last Wednesday 27 November 2024. 🏫 The joint declaration between Korea University, Seoul National University (SNU), Yonsei University, and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) outlines a shared commitment to building eco-friendly green, carbon-neutral and paperless campuses. 🌿 The initiative lays the groundwork for the four participant universities to reduce carbon emissions, recycle resources, digitize administrative tasks, and establish green infrastructure in a move which recognizes the pivotal role of universities in tackling the climate crisis and paving the way forward for environmental, social and governance (ESG) leadership in the domestic tertiary education sector. GGGI Incoming Director-General 김상협(Kim Sang-Hyup) congratulated the collaboration, signaling the organization’s willingness to support the endeavor as a partner and friend. “Global Green Growth Institute would be honored to support the universities in Korea to actively serve as a huge base for sustainability, create green technology, and foster green talent, starting with these four universities. We strongly believe that more and more universities will also play an important role in the green transition,” Mr Kim told the media on Wednesday. The inter-university collaboration sets the stage for progressive sustainability leadership and eco-friendly policies in the Korean university sector by mainstreaming cross-institutional knowledge and resource-sharing. 🔗 Read more about the initiative here: https://bit.ly/3ZwrYIA GGGI extends our congratulations to all involved, represented by: - Korea University President Dong-One Kim - SNU President Hong-Lim RYU - Yonsei University President Dong-Sup Yoon - POSTECH President Seong Keun Kim #GGGI #GreenGrowth #SustainableCampusInitiative

🌊⭐ GGGI supports IDI’s USD 40 million green bond issuance, boosting sustainable finance in Viet Nam’s seafood industry Announced in the signing ceremony on Tuesday, 26 November in Ho Chi Minh city, this issuance of VND 1,000 billion (USD 40 million equivalent) by International Development and Investment Corporation (#IDI), a subsidiary of Sao Mai Group, marks the first green bond by a corporate issuer in the aquaculture industry in Viet Nam. The issuance is fully guaranteed by GuarantCo -- part of The Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) and subscribed by Manulife Investment Management and AIA. 🌱 Reflecting IDI’s commitment towards sustainable practices, under the green bond framework, the use of proceeds will be allocated to eligible projects that promote sustainable and environmentally friendly fish farming and production. These include development of sustainable fish breeding and hatchery facilities, and a new processing plant applying eco-friendly practices approaching international sustainability standards set by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP). These standards are crucial for Vietnamese companies seeking to access international markets with best-practice sustainability requirements. The new factory is also expected to provide a source of income for a number of contracted local farming households. ➡️ Read more at: https://lnkd.in/g7HGKUjz GGGI’s technical support for the issuance is part of the Viet Nam Green Bond Readiness Program, funded by the Government of Luxembourg, to foster the development of a robust green bond market in Viet Nam. Thailand’s Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) has issued Asia’s first sovereign sustainability-linked bond (SLB), valued at THB 30 billion (USD 870-million equivalent)—making Thailand the first in the region and the third globally, after Chile and Uruguay, to issue this innovative financial instrument. With GGGI’s technical expertise, this SLB marks a significant transition from use-of-proceeds sustainability bonds to performance-based SLBs, directly tied to ambitious national climate targets: ✅ Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 ✅ Increasing the annual registration of zero-emission passenger cars and pick-up trucks to 440,000 vehicles, advancing Thailand’s 30@30 electric vehicle policy. This achievement is enabled by the Global Trust Fund (GTF) on Sustainable Finance Instruments, supported by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and with a second opinion provided by DNV (Thailand). 📌Click to Read More: https://lnkd.in/gqtFfSwh #GGGI #GreenGrowth #SustainableFinance
