What do forest fires have in common with avalanches? How can we better prepare for climate risks?🌍 🌲 With our project MultiBios, we dived into the heart of the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), exploring how biosphere reserves are making an important contribution in dealing with climate risks through education and networking, fighting back against the rising climate crisis. Special thanks to our project partners: the Universität für Bodenkultur Wien - University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the biosphere reserves of: Wienerwald/A, Lungau/A, Nockberge/A, Murtal/A, Großes Walsertal/A, Val Müstair/CH, Schwarzwald/D. November 2024 entschieden ablehnt. — “If you sow a few roads, you will reap an avalanche of traffic. After a brief period of relief, every additional road expansion leads to more car traffic and thus the next traffic jam somewhere else,” says our director Kaspar Schuler at todays media conference of the Graubünden No-committees on the referendum of 24.11.2024 about the extension of the Swiss motorways. CIPRA is part of an alliance of over 40 organisations, associations and political parties that is rejecting the referendum on massive motorway expansion on 24 November 2024. — #switzerland #schweiz #volksabstimmung #referendum #sayno ❌🚧
