  • ⚖️ Strengthening Justice in #Lesotho 🇱🇸 The EU 🇪🇺 and Lesotho Government 🇱🇸 are working together to improve access to #JusticeForAll. This week, the #EUinLesotho handed over ICT equipment worth M5.5 million to 16 justice institutions in #Lesotho with the aim to enhance service delivery and make justice more accessible to vulnerable communities, especially in remote areas. The handover is part of the Reforms and Strengthening of Governance Programme with Ministry of Justice and Law - our ongoing effort to build a more responsive and people-centered justice system for Lesotho. Recent achievements under the programme include: ✅ Training workshops for judges and magistrates on handling corruption, serious economic offences, and gender-based violence. ✅ Support for better case management through accurate data collection in the Judiciary. ✅ Establishing decentralised offices in districts like Mokhotlong and Thaba-Tseka, equipped with essential furniture to bring justice closer to communities. Looking ahead, we aim to expand digital court recording systems, pilot new tools for legislative drafting and legal aid, and reduce case backlogs. #EUinLesotho #AccessToJustice #SustainableDevelopment #GoodGovernance #HumanRights

  • The European Union in Lesotho joined the commemoration of International Human Rights Day on 10 December. The European Union is unwavering in its commitment to the values enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. These principles guide all our actions, both within Europe and beyond. In Lesotho, our partnership embodies these values. Together with the Ministry of Justice and Law, oversight bodies, and civil society, we strive to strengthen governance, improve justice systems, and ensure justice for all—leaving no one behind. This day also marks the conclusion of the #16DaysOfActivism against Gender-Based Violence, a campaign raising awareness of this universal violation of human rights. On the last day of the campaign, we renewed our commitment to end GBV by signing the pledge wall.
