Getting to the finish line! 🏗️ Five weeks ago, I was standing at our cement plant in Lengfurt trying to envision what was going to happen here soon – now the key plant components for our CAP2U project are in place. Three columns, which form the centrepiece of the carbon capture and liquefaction facility, were shipped to Lengfurt in late summer. Here they were completed with all add-on parts such as platforms, ladders, pipework and insulation. Particularly spectacular was the crane lift for the large absorption column, which is 54 metres long and weighs 100 tonnes. We plan to put the facility into operation in 2025. And it will be the first at industrial scale to use CO₂ captured from cement production as a raw material for exciting applications. Thanks to its purity, the processed gas can be used in both the chemical and food industries, for example as carbon dioxide in mineral water. With the 70.000 tonnes of CO₂ to be captured each year we can cover the sparkling water supply for 2 million inhabitants of Germany for the whole year (on average we drink just under 200 litres of water per year). Not a bad start!

📍 Today marks a milestone for the establishment of a #CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) #valuechain in Norway, with the opening of the CO₂ storage facilities at Northern Lights JV in Øygarden! This facility will support the Norwegian government’s Longship* project, providing infrastructure to transport and store CO₂ from capture sites to a secure reservoir 2,600 meters under the seabed.🌊 Heidelberg Materials Northern Europe is proud to lead our industry’s climate transition with the world’s first CCS solution for cement production currently being built at the Brevik plant in Norway - and we are the first industrial customer to deliver CO₂ by ship to Northern Lights. 🤝 A key success factor of Longship is the dissemination of knowledge and cross-border collaboration. Our General Manager Giv K. Brantenberg spoke at today's Northern Lights Summit, sharing insights on driving commercial investments in carbon capture solutions for hard-to-abate industries. *Longship/Langskip is Norway’s initiative to develop a full-scale CCS value chain, showcasing its potential as a global decarbonization strategy.

🚛 Driving Innovation with Electric Concrete Mixers! 🌿🔋 We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and leading the way in sustainable construction practices. Therefore, we are the first company in Lithuania to have recently introduced e-mixers to our fleet and the use of e-mixers is in line with Lithuania’s and EU broader goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.⚡💪🏼 What makes Electric Mixers stand out? 🔌 Zero Emissions: Fully electric operation means no harmful emissions, significantly reducing the environmental impact of each project. 🔇 Reduced Noise for Urban Projects Construction shouldn’t disrupt the communities around us. These electric mixers operate much quieter than traditional diesel-powered trucks, making them ideal for sensitive urban areas or projects that require low-noise operations. 🌍 Sustainability in Action: Supporting our goal to lower carbon emissions, these mixers contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future in construction. 💸 Lower Operating Costs: Electric vehicles are more cost-effective over time, with lower fuel costs and less maintenance required. Every time one of these electric mixers hits the road, it demonstrates a step towards a greener future. 🚛 🌳 #Sustainability #GreenConstruction #ElectricMixers #ConcreteInnovation #HeidelbergMaterialsLietuva #BuildingTheFuture #SustainableMaterials
