This week is full of events on Sustainability and Energy worldwide. Metsolar was participating and was one of the speakers in 3rd World Conference on Climate Change & Sustainability (Climate Week 2024) in Barcelona. We had the privilege to present our insights on sustainability and the importance of grid-friendly #PV solutions through our presentation "Importance of Energy Active Living Environment". Key Takeaways: ✅ Land Efficiency: We already exploit enough land to meet 100% of our energy needs. Transforming just 5% of our existing infrastructure (cities and roads) into energy-active environments could fully cover global energy demand, without using agricultural areas. ✅ Investment Shift: Investments should focus on energy technologies that generate renewable power without expanding into natural environments. ✅ Integrated PV Solution: Photovoltaic (PV) systems are the ideal nature-friendly solution by integrating into existing infrastructure like buildings, roads, and other urban surfaces. ✅ Supporting Technologies: The transition requires advancements in storage (electric and thermal), power electronics, and ICT systems for optimal performance. This event is a platform for discussing the challenges and solutions towards achieving net-zero worldwide. Metsolar Kicks Off Horizon Europe SuRE Project as Part of International Consortium Metsolar EU - Custom Solar Solutions is excited to announce its role in the #HorizonEurope #SuREproject ("Sustainable, Reliable, and Efficient Floating PV Power Plants"), officially launched as part of a consortium of 11 partners from 7 countries. Coordinated by Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) , this 3-year initiative focuses on revolutionizing Floating Photovoltaics (#FPV) to drive Europe’s transition to climate neutrality. As a partner in the SuRE project, Metsolar will be developing a cost-effective and highly efficient PV panel design tailored for floating applications. Our work will focus on optimizing materials—such as advanced encapsulants, various solar cells, and edge sealants—while enhancing the reliability and performance of FPV panels. In parallel, we’ll streamline and digitalize our manufacturing processes, moving towards Industry 4.0 standards for improved efficiency and scalability. Through these efforts, SuRE Project aims to: ✅ Enhance sustainability by minimizing potential negative impacts and enhancing positive impacts on biodiversity, and ensuring compliance with end-of-life requirements. ✅ Improve reliability by developing and testing FPV components that meet structural and functional demands throughout their lifecycle. ✅ Boost affordability by reducing the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) from FPV power plants, making renewable energy more accessible. The Horizon Europe Project SuRE "Sustainable, Reliable, and Efficient Floating PV Power Plants," coordinated by the IFE, officially kicked off in Norway! 🌍🚀 This 3-year HEU Innovation Action brought together 11 partners from 7 countries for its launch event. Two productive days of discussions about the project’s implementation were followed by a tour of the IFE Solar Labs for consortium members. The SuRE project (SUstainable, Reliable, and Efficient) is focused on tackling the key challenges of Floating Photovoltaics (FPV), critical to Europe’s transition to a climate-neutral future.
