Last week, experts working on the climate adaptation track under the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) in water visited the basin agency in Tensift to create specifications for their upcoming prototype. A new Moroccan national directive now requires basin agencies to actively engage stakeholders in understanding flood hazards as part of their upcoming work with the national Flood Atlas. The basin agency in Tensift is using a Danish flood risk planning tool, KAMP, as inspiration to design its own online visualisation tool. The partners aim to have a prototype ready by spring 2025, with plans to incorporate additional data and further refinements for a final launch in early 2026. Why does this matter? Engaging stakeholders is essential for creating sustainable flood risk mitigation actions. Understanding the risks and hazards, is the first step toward successful stakeholder engagement. #Denmark supporting #Morocco's ambitious water sustainability goals: This week, the Danish Embassy in Morocco, represented by Ambassador Berit Basse and Head of Trade Houda Kaddioui, visited Sønderborg to engage with Danfoss, a multinational leader in energy-efficient solutions with a global presence. Danfoss’ advanced technologies, including high-pressure pumps and energy recovery systems, are highly relevant to #Morocco’s bold desalination strategy and commitment to integrating renewable energy. Morocco is addressing water scarcity through its National Program for Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation 2020–2027, a $14.3 billion initiative aimed at producing 1.7 billion cubic meters of desalinated water annually by 2030. This ambitious strategy highlights the country's focus on using innovative, sustainable solutions to secure water resources while reducing environmental impact. A centerpiece of Morocco’s efforts is the Casablanca desalination plant, the largest in Africa, with a capacity of 300 million cubic meters per year. This landmark project will provide clean drinking water for 7.5 million residents and strengthen the country’s resilience to drought. Denmark, known for its leadership in renewable energy and sustainable water technologies, is committed to supporting Morocco’s transformative goals. By combining Danish expertise with Morocco’s vision, partnerships can drive impactful solutions to global challenges such as water scarcity. #DenmarkInMorocco #WaterStrategy #Desalination #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy Danfoss High Pressure Pumps | GRUNDFOS | NIRAS | AVK Holding A/S | Kamstrup | Export and Investment Fund of Denmark | IFU

Danish public authorities work directly in long-term strategic cooperation with counterpart authorities in developing and growth economies. Through this cooperation, Danish authorities promote Danish solutions that have been developed through partnerships between the public and private sector – for example know-how on green economy, water and energy as well as health. The cooperation is funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There are 54 Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) programmes around the world. Overall, 12 Danish authorities are active in SSCs in 18 countries. There are most SSCs in Africa where they constitute an important tool for implementation of the strategy for strengthened Danish engagement with African countries; “Africa’s century”. There are three SSCs in Morocco funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The three projects are in the area of Statistics and Digitalisation; Water and Energy. Through these three programmes peers from the Moroccan and Danish public sector exchange best practices and learn from each other through experts visits from Denmark and study visits to Denmark. Last month, all sector advisers from the project convened in Copenhagen to exchange ideas and best practices. #DKaid I Berit Basse I Klaus Balslev Pedersen I Klaus Munch Haagensen I Zineb Abbad El Andaloussi I Statistics Denmark - International Consulting I Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark I Haut Commissariat au Plan

Linking economic activities with climate data on water and energy were among the topics at the meeting between H.E Berit Basse and H.E Chakib Benmoussa, High Commissioner of HCP. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the progress made since the start of the cooperation between Statistics Denmark and HCP in 2019, which has now entered its second phase. It was a good opportunity to discuss and reflect on the achievements to date, while exploring ways to realign the project to better address its evolving needs. The Ambassador and the High Commissioner of HCP agreed on an upcoming meeting to set clear achievable goals, ensuring impactful results moving forward. In this next phase, more attention will be directed toward enhancing quality of statistics, energy and statistical modelling laying the groundwork for sustainable and effective outcomes. Exciting progress lies ahead, and updates will be shared as the project continues to advance. #DKaid I Chakib Benmoussa I Berit Basse I Hasnae Fdhil I Klaus Balslev Pedersen I Klaus Munch Haagensen I Zineb Abbad El Andaloussi I Statistics Denmark - International Consulting I Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark I Haut Commissariat au Plan
