Empowering teen girls to be leaders of today and tomorrow.

نبذة عنا

Our Mission: Project Soar is a feminist teen girls’ organization and movement established in Morocco in 2015. Through a scalable empowerment program, called Soar in a Box, Project Soar builds the capacity of teen girls to be the feminist leaders of today and tomorrow. PS Methodology: PS uses its own signature 25 workshop empowerment curriculum. This Arabic and English language curriculum is based on five modules that are central to every empowered girl; PS Girls know their Value, Voice, Body, Rights, and Path. PS in a Box: The PS empowerment curriculum is packaged into a portable kit called Project Soar in a Box (PSB). Each PSB provides a team of two trained local women Empowerment Facilitators with all the tools they need to lead a “squad” of 15-20 teen girls through the program. PS Footprint: PS has an active network of over 3,000 PS girls and is continuing to grow the teen feminist movement. Our replicable, scalable PSB model currently has 34 chapters in Morocco and five chapters in Uganda, with a network of 174 trained female facilitators. PS Impact: As a PS Girl progresses through each module, she undergoes a transformative process whereby she further develops her self-confidence; speaks up; embraces her adolescent body; advocates for her rights and the rights for all girls; and sets future goals. Although coming from the lowest socio-economic class, PS girls do better than other more privileged teen girls: 90% of PS Girls passed their High School Entry Exam vs 67.9% of all students nationwide, 32% higher than the national average for both boys and girls. 95% of PS Girls passed their Baccalaureate Exam vs 54.3% of all girls nationwide. 75.5% higher than the national average for girls. 94.5% of PS Girls continued on to higher education vs. 51.4% of all girls nationwide, 83.8% higher than the national average for girls. Only 1.4% of PS Girls married underage, 91.25% lower than the national child marriage average of 16%.

🌟 When we at the ABURY Foundation first thought about education, we focused on the basics—reading, writing, languages, and math. But along the way, we learned soft skills are just as critical, if not more so. Developed by Project Soar and their visionary founder Maryam Montague in Morocco, we’re proud to support a transformative program designed to empower teenage girls in five key areas: 🔅 Value - Self-esteem - she knows she is as valuable as a boy. 🔅 Voice - She communicates her thoughts and advocates for herself and others. 🔅 Body - She values her own health and wellbeing. 🔅 Rights - She embraces her right to an education and understands her right to be free from violence, sexual harassment, and early and forced marriage. 🔅 Path - She cares about her education and has tools to envision her future. These modules go beyond academics, equipping girls with the self-confidence, knowledge of their rights, and a vision for their future. Why is this so important? Because confident young girls who know their worth grow into empowered women—women who stand up for themselves, lead with purpose, and inspire change. This is particularly crucial in a context where approximately 70% of women in Morocco still face domestic violence. Self-worth isn’t just a personal trait—it’s a foundation for equality, resilience, and leadership. 💪 Let’s continue to invest in programs that shape future women leaders and create a world where every girl knows her value. #GirlsEmpowerment #SoftSkillsMatter #ProjectSoar #LeadershipDevelopment #EndDomesticViolence #EducationForChange

    Enabling better Organizations

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of visiting Project Soar, an inspiring NGO supported by the Personio Foundation, in Marrakesh. We had a full agenda focused on setting up their recruiting process within their Personio account, and training hiring managers on how to fully digitize their recruitment efforts using Personio. It was incredible to witness firsthand how just a few hours of face-to-face interaction can drive such a meaningful impact! Gone are the days of printing applications, filing them in massive folders, and scribbling notes by hand. From now on, Project Soar will manage their entire recruiting process digitally—from crafting job postings and publishing them on social media and job boards, to receiving, managing, and evaluating candidates, all the way through to generating work contracts—everything will now be handled seamlessly within their Personio account. Shukran bsef to Hanane kharrazi and the entire team for having me!

  • This October, Soar Girls and facilitators united for the BIGGER Health project, building advocacy skills to champion menstrual health and hygiene rights. Here’s a look at what they learned and how they’re preparing to make a difference! The BIGGER Health project empowers over 130 Moroccan teen girls to mobilize, advocate, and push for change on menstrual health issues, addressing challenges like limited access to menstrual products and inadequate WASH facilities. 🌍❤️ Special thanks to AmplifyChange for supporting this initiative and making this impactful training a reality! #MyPeriodMyRights #SoarGirls #BIGGERHealth

Dear Friends, I am deeply honored to receive recognition for my efforts leading @projectsoar in empowering marginalized girls and championing their leadership to fight against child marriage in #Morocco. This award was presented at an inspiring, Africa-wide symposium dedicated to girls’ rights, where I had the privilege of standing alongside incredible individual and institutional awardees from 9 countries: Chad, Sweden, Tunisia, Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, Mauritania, Switzerland, and Guinea. Since 2017, Project Soar has been unwavering in its commitment to ending child marriage. We have conducted 380 child marriage workshops that have reached thousands of teen girls in Morocco, Uganda, and Syria. We also have organized 97 community dialogues to develop locally driven solutions against child marriage. Hundreds of trained Soar girl activists have been tireless advocates, championing the rights of teen girls to remain free of #childmarriage. They have brought their voices to ministers, parliamentarians, local officials, and UN agency leaders, fighting for every girl’s right to complete her education and choose marriage only as an adult. The reality remains stark: 12 million girls are married as children every year—12 million too many❗️Our collective work must continue until every girl can fulfill her potential🌷 A heartfelt thank you to ICDiplomacy @thenewafricamagazine, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and CNDH for organizing such a meaningful event and beautiful awards ceremony. Your recognition fuels our mission at Project Soar and the hard work of the entire team, as well as honors the resilience of all the girls we serve.💪❤️

Speaking of Maryam Montague, earlier this month we honored her with the Moment of Truth Award for her relentless commitment to social justice. Through Project Soar, she empowers marginalized teen girls in Morocco, Syria, and Uganda, tackling child marriage and advancing menstrual rights with innovative solutions like the Soar Hurya. Project Soar envisions a world where every girl recognizes her worth. With free empowerment workshops, sustainable menstrual health kits, and advocacy training, they have achieved remarkable results: *100% of Soar girls are committed to their education. *89% passed their school year. *Less than 1% became child brides. Maryam’s journey from her boutique hotel, Peacock Pavilions, to 138 chapters nationwide is a testament to her mission: Be Good, Make Good, Do Good. Let’s continue to champion the voices of leaders everywhere. 🎥 Glenn Romero, Snowcap Video Solutions #Leadership #SocialJustice #Empowerment #TeenGirls #ProjectSoar
