Sir John Stewart, 1st of Dalswinton and Garlies was the son of Sir William Stewart and Isabel Oliver.1 A contract for the marriage of Sir John Stewart, 1st of Dalswinton and Garlies and Marion Stewart was signed on 17 October 1396.1 He died circa 1419/20, killed in action.1
He fought in the Battle of Homildon Hill in 1402, where he was captured by the English, but escaped.1 He lived at Dalswinton, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1

Robert Boyd, 5th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock was born circa 1517.1 He was the son of Robert Boyd, 4th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock and Helen Somerville.1 A contract for the marriage of Robert Boyd, 5th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock and Margaret Colquhoun was signed in 1535.1 He died on 3 January 1589/90.1 He was buried at Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 8 June 1590 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
He was Chamberlain of Kilmarnock in 1534.1 In 1544 he aided the Regent Arran in defeating the Earl of Glencairn at Glasgow.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock [S., c. 1454] circa 1558.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 17 May 1567.1 He fought in the Battle of Langside on 13 May 1568, where he was a supporter of Queen Mary.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] between 7 September 1571 and 1573.1 He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session [Scotland] between 1573 and 1578.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) Giles Boyd was the daughter of Robert Boyd, 5th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock and Margaret Colquhoun.2 She married Hugh Montgomerie, 4th Earl of Eglinton, son of Hugh Montgomerie, 3rd Earl of Eglinton and Agnes Drummond, between 13 May 1576 and 20 May 1576.1 She died after 1584.2

Robert Boyd, 7th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock was born in November 1595.1 He was the son of Robert Boyd, Master of Boyd and Lady Jean Kerr.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Montgomerie, daughter of Robert Montgomerie and Jean Campbell, before 24 March 1614/15.1 He married by contract, secondly, Lady Christian Hamilton, daughter of Thomas Hamilton, 1st Earl of Haddington and Margaret Borthwick, on 9 December 1617.1 He died on 28 August 1628 at age 32.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 7 May 1632.1
