After years of advocacy against HIV stigma and discrimination, people living with HIV who breast/chestfeed or comfort feed continue to bear the brunt of it. Today, as we commemorate International Human Rights Day, we affirm our stance on the protection of people living with HIV from criminal prosecution for breastfeeding and we urge governments, healthcare providers, justice system actors and international agencies to take action in the respect, promotion and protection of the rights of breastfeeding people living with HIV. Empowering Discussion on Mpox's Impact on Sex Workers: Today, we successfully hosted a webinar with UNDP, African Sex Worker Alliance (ASWA), and #DRC sex worker communities, focusing on the impact of Mpox on sex workers. Key takeaways: 1. Leave no one behind: Ensure sex workers are included in the global Mpox response. 2. Decriminalize sex work: Address it as a public health issue, recognizing disproportionate impact on sex workers. 3. Targeted support: Recognize and respond to Mpox's disproportionate effect on sex workers, LGBTIQ+ individuals, people living with HIV, and vulnerable groups. 4. Build on experience: Leverage lessons from HIV and other pandemics to inform Mpox response. 5. Mpox and HIV responses are interconnected, with heightened human rights violations against already discriminated or criminalized groups during health emergencies. 6. Essential principles for effective Mpox response: - Human rights-based approaches - Community-led and community-based efforts - Sustainable financing - International solidarity Thank you to our partners and participants for a productive discussion! #Mpox #SexWorkersRights #HealthEquity #HumanRights #LGBTIQ #HIV
