On Thursday, 22nd August 2024, NoMAP facilitated a one-day stakeholders’ workshop for commissioners, heads of agencies, directors and senior government officials of Abia State. The workshop was convened as part of NoMAP’s policy and regulatory support to the Abia State government. Ike Monday, Abia State Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities opened the workshop. In his remarks, he emphasised the cruciality of electricity access in the state government’s developmental strategy. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, kingsley Etolue ( B.Engr, MBA, PMP, PRINCE2, SMP) stressed the urgency of improving access to the unserved and the underserved, adding that the off-grid electrification policy will provide comfort to stakeholders looking to support the state on its electrification drive. The workshop participants, who played a crucial role in shaping the discussion, provided key insights and useful input on what they expect to see in an inclusive electrification policy. They were especially keen to establish the nexus between energy access and other development touchpoints such as healthcare delivery, education, and food security. The workshop discussed the development plans of the various ministries and explored strategies around how to harness #renewableenergy to drive the delivery of the state’s developmental targets. This collaborative effort between NoMAP and the Abia state government is a significant step towards enhancing energy access for unserved and underserved communities in the state. By documenting a clear, inclusive and actionable policy framework, Abia State is positioning itself to harness the full potential of distributed renewables to drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life for the people of Abia. #policydevelopment #energyaccess #economicdevelopment #offgridenergy #InvestInAbia

Inspiring Inclusion & Innovation for Women in Renewable Energy We are excited to announce the winners of the 8th Off-grid Investor Pitch Competition! Kudos to Solfa Power Limited for winning 1st place and So-Cool Energy for taking the runner-up spot! Over the past six weeks, the All On hub, supporting Power Africa, has guided a dynamic cohort of women-led off-grid clean energy companies dedicated to addressing Nigeria’s electrification challenges. These teams improved their capital-raising strategies and honed their investment pitches, which they presented to a panel of investor judges from Verod, Power Africa, EchoVC Partners, Novastar Ventures and First City Monument Bank Limited.
