A strong case was made yesterday at the #FrenchWeek2024NG Business Forum for advancing the France-Nigeria business relationship. Jointly organized by the Chamber, Business France, the France-Nigeria Business Council, the French Embassy in Nigeria, and the French Consulate in Lagos, the event spotlighted collaborative growth through sustainable investments and strategic partnerships. The forum, chaired by Guillaume NIARFEIX, President of the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, President of the France-Nigeria Business Council, commenced with an engaging address on French economic attractiveness by Laurent FAVIER, French Consul General in Lagos. Vice-President Kashim Shettima conveyed the Nigerian government’s commitment to an enabling business environment, focusing on policy reforms that drive foreign direct investment (#FDI) and sustainable growth. Represented by Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, Technical Adviser to the President on FDI, the Vice President emphasized reforms in the new tax bill aimed at poverty alleviation and targeted reinvestment of regional proceeds. Notably, H.E. marc fonbaustier, French Ambassador to Nigeria, closed the session alongside members of the France Nigeria Business Council, underlining the significance of the upcoming state visit by President Bola Tinubu to #France as an occasion to scale up bilateral trade, investment, and innovation. Ambassador Fonbaustier highlighted Nigeria’s opportunities beyond oil, particularly in tech, agriculture, and the creative industries, enhanced by recent macroeconomic reforms for currency stability and public finance sustainability. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State Government, represented by Commissioner Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, outlined three priority investment areas for French companies: renewable energy, agribusiness, and digital innovation. He underscored that French expertise in clean energy and technology could play a vital role in Lagos’s vision as a leading African tech hub, boosting digital infrastructure, tech education, and local skill development. The event showcased the robust potential of France-Nigeria business ties to create meaningful, high-impact investments that support mutual growth and sustainable development. #FrenchWeek2024NG #France #Nigeria #Investments
