Friends of Nature Network is committed to creating a sustainable world with societies living in harmony with nature.
About us
The Friends of Nature Network (FONN) is a youth-focused, gender-inclusive organization championing biodiversity conservation and climate resilience across Africa’s rural communities. Focusing on inclusivity, FONN bridges generational and social divides to empower young people and marginalized populations as key agents of environmental stewardship. By addressing the socio-economic factors driving environmental degradation, we foster intergenerational collaboration and nurture sustainable development initiatives. FONN's mission is rooted in building resilient communities through environmental literacy, citizen science, and policy advocacy. The organization prioritizes participatory approaches, engaging local voices to identify challenges, craft grassroots solutions, and achieve tangible outcomes. By blending youth-led innovation with indigenous knowledge, FONN ensures that its interventions are both effective and socially, environmentally and culturally aligned. Through capacity-building programs, peer mentorship, and grant support, FONN equips emerging leaders with the tools needed to address pressing environmental challenges. These initiatives are tailored to overcome systemic barriers, fostering a generation capable of transforming global issues into impactful local solutions. At its core, FONN seeks to create a future where communities thrive in harmony with nature, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable world.

I am so honoured to be named a 2024 Diana Award Recipient. The Diana Award is considered the highest award a young person can receive for humanitarian work or social action. Yesterday, our work at Friends of Nature Network had a third anniversary and for me three years of being a changemaker. I am thankful for the people in my life, who have helped me grow so big. To the first person who listened to my crazy ideas and opened doors for me, Beckley Ikhajiagbe at the University of Benin, I am thankful for your mentorship. To the incredible women who have inspired me and allowed me to grow, Chioma Ukonu, Ebere Mary-Jane Obioha, thank you for leading the charge.
